GreatDomains.com - Please Post Accepted and Denied Names

One of my names, PinotGrigiot.us, was recently accepted by GreatDomains.com after having several names denied. I had a small thread going about this before, but I'd like to start a larger thread where everyone can post which names they've submitted to Great Domains and the outcome. This may help us get a better understanding of how they select names.

I'm kinda over trying to get names listed on there anyway. I've got one on there, that's good enough. IMO, it doesn't make much difference if a person's name is listed with them or not. With GD, you're either gonna get an offer from Mr. MoneyBags or you're gonna scare off all of the other potential buyers who think you're overpricing domains.

You are absolutely right. You can see my list of accepted names above. Never sold one of them on www.GreatDomains.com . I never even got 1 offer!!! So, I am like you, I don't get excited much about GD anymore. That's why I have let 8 or so just expire.

It's fun to try to get a name on there,and more power to someone who can actually sell a domain name on there. Just be realistic, and don't go spend thousands because you know you will sell a domain soon on GD!!!!

If it were'nt for the fact that greatdomains will accept names once denied. I think current affairs, news events, possibly sporting events, political evants etc.... play a big roll in listings accepted. Also they have buyers and developers they get feedback from that are reflecting the wishes on the drawing boards. Internet trends change quickly and fluidly and greatdomains lists accordingly. An example would one of my names...AmericasWarriors.com was once denied and has now been accepted.This is an obvious example of political news impacting the value at this time. However I notice when trying to use OVT number based names and it is a two word name that both words need to have high OVT score. Another example, and now a test, would be the name "careerChange.tv" that was posted as rejected. I have just submitted CareerEducation.tv and OnlineEducation.tv, I think they may get accepted on the grounds both words have strong OVT scores as well as strong keywords reflecting at least one of the words in the domain. Considerring, greatdomains, lists roughly 1600 names you can hardly generalize any values. You can see a current market reflection or cross section of GENERIC domain names current to populous desires, development demands and technology advances. (IMVHO)

Agree with namenut, everyone knows GD has strict (and sometimes odd) acceptance criteria. By posting their rejected names, they are helping everyone by showing how GD is thinking at the time. PokerResorts.com is a great name, and GD didn't accept it. Would you not buy PokerResorts.com because of it? I'm hoping GD will look at this thread and see the confusion they cause and maybe give us some more guidance (a blog would be great, where they would update with the type of names they are looking for)

My first domain to be accepted by GD. I had several names rejected in the past, including some pretty good ones ( in my opinion )

Wow....I am surprised about Childrens Classics :td: . Other than it not describing what the "classic" is. But with .TV as the extension it should be obvious. Perhaps the human factor overrides the SE mechanics. ChildrensClassicsMovie or ClassicChildrensMovie.tv? Maybe they need a more descriptive word along with the extension.

Its great that all these names including mine Blowmeup.com $15000
were accepted recently.

If now one knows they are there it really means nothing.

I think there search needs to be improved. It does not search the description of the domain just the name....That Sucks

In my description i put stuff about a video game site. But if you search on video game mine (blowmeup.com) does not come up. Just domains with the searched word in them...


IMO of course......

Did i go off course........Just wondered if mine has a chance of being sold unless i throw in some effort......
