Google Google Webmaster Tools Verification Problem

I received an email yesterday from Google which stated http://dnstore.org/: Googlebot can't access your site, and suggest that I verify it manually via Webmaster Tools.

So I go to Webmaster Tools,download the HTML verification file and upload it to my website root folder, and check that it's there, which it is. Then you are supposed to click Verify button and your done. But the problem is, Google cannot find the file and gives the message "we were unable to connect to your server". Trying this multiple times in quick succession sometimes yielded a Forbidden 403 error, but it was rare. I then tried the alternative methods of adding TEXT or CNAME entries with the same effect.

WTF is going on? I can go to my website and view anything without any problems whatsoever. I would add that this is a Google faillisted domain which I am trying to get un-faillisted. Does anybody recognize these symptoms or have any suggestions on things to try?

(You don't have anything like robots.txt or htaccess blocking google, do you? Sounds like a stupid question but you'd be surprised how many times it happens ...)

I can't access the site, with or without www, with or without https, I just get told the server cannot be found. If I google the domain name it is clearly indexed but when I click on that link the site still is not available.

Can others see the site? Can you only see it if logged in?

I am not able to see your website either. Seems you are having server issues and were probably viewing a cached version yourself.

OK. I finally got verified. I put in the meta tag and uploaded it. Verify went without a hitch. I then verified with the html file as well. I have no idea why it wouldn't verify until I verified with the meta tag.

FWIW, when I checked it, I couldn't access the URL you posted yesterday either (but didn't see a need to post that, since two others already had) so there were definitely some availability issues at the time. Probably a coincidence that you tried the meta tag after the problem resolved itself - its fine for me today.
