You can use your robots.txt file to "disallow" search engine bots from reading particular files.

Apologies; I misread your post. I thought you wanted ways other than image replacement to hide content from search engines.

You're right that Google can't read text in images, but that doesn't mean that it can't find image-only pages. As long as you have backlinks, your page will be indexed; it's just that Google will have trouble working out what the page is about.

Helping out with meta tags and alt tags can only take you so far; the best solution is to have the text on the page as text. Why is it that you don't want to do that? (Depending on the reason, there are various solutions that you might consider.)

The page is made so, becouse then all the text looks same in every computer.

Then i added page to google search engine, (metatags added) but no result.
Why the meta tags wont work? What could be problem there? :td:

Google doesn't care so much about meta tags, it likes content.

I'd recommend not using images for your text. Use css to help the formatting to make it look nice, but don't use images for text...that's a sure way to not have a well ranked site.

I wouldn't say there's no use for meta tags with Google, but in terms of all the things Google looks for, meta tags aren't as important. Your content, in text form, would be significantly more valuable (if it's good content).

You could try to add the same text to the alt or title attributes of the image.

Thank you all for the info.

I got much smarter now about google search engine thing. :)

I try remove "picture text" and i insert "real text".
I hope that it helps and i see some improvements.

Your other alternative is the "sIFR" technique, which uses Flash and Javascript instead of image replacement.

yeah, that's totally correct. and because of that, it won't rank in any SERPs, basically.
