Does Google even bother indexing static pages anymore? My forums seem to be fairly quickly indexed, but I can't get the images in the gallery (which are static) to be updated at all. I've tried everything I can think of. We lose a lot of traffic by not having that art indexed as it was before Google decided to take us out a few weeks back after some downtime during an update.

They do, I can't keep them away even with robots.txt or revist=9999 (meta) on some of my larger sites that don't change (Trying not to use system resources for php nuke source calls on a limited capability server).
On a side note, getting your image-heavy sites indexed is a great way to get 404 redirected traffic to one of the parking services.

Okay, my next question then is is there a way to force the issue, using robots.txt? If you do an image search of 'shadowwindmanor.com', only 3 of the over 100 images come up. The thumbnails and titles come up from the old version of the site. They are all static gallery pages (not using a php script or anything like that, hand coded). I specifically did that to make sure that the pages would still match, although maybe that's my problem. Although I added at least 50 image pages when we went to the new version, none of which got indexed. Not even sure why those ones that do come up did. Is there a certain amount of searches that have to be performed, or traffic before Google sees them? I noticed that Dolphin Fantasies is first on the 'shadowwindmanor.com' search, but points to a site that was hotlinking the image instead of mine (I am the artist).

All kinds of issues raised in your second post, but in short, the more sites that link to you and the more Google "likes" your content (yes, partly based on recent updates), the more frequently it will index the content.
Given enough time, Google will get to you.

Actually I was just reading tonight that Google only does a reindex about every six month of their image database. They took a lot of flack for not having any abu ghairab (sp?) pictures apparently. I think I updated the site after their December 2004 update. Hopefully it will get straightened out later on this year...

Google visits about every day. I think they visit the forums a lot because of the ads on there. They must figure while they are there, they'll update that too...I see some very recent posts listed in the regular search though they are kinda buried. I'm digging MSN's new search. Doing really well with them. I got a few pages that are on the first page for their keywords. Like someone found my site typing in majhong which is one of the arcade games. I looked it up on MSN and I was #9 out of 50,000...Actually I just realized that it was a typo of mahjong, but hey...Just wish MSN was as popular for people to search as Google.
