I was searching on google today and noticed each time I perfomed a search after a second the site would update and say Loading Enhanced Results and then put up a little frame with some results in it. Has anyone else noticed this at http://www.google.com ? Maybe a new feature for the highest bidder or something?

I haven't noticed it, yet, and I use google constantly. I don't think it would be a highest bidder type deal, as you may know, google is human edited by volunteers. See http://dmoz.org/ for more information.

I think only the directory part (dmoz) of google is human edited. For search engine rankings and submissions I think it's automated for the most part.

I still havn't figured out why it's doing that though. I think it's something that has been installed on my computer without me knowing it or something.

Googles results are based upon the number of links to a site that are found on other sites. So if you search for a site called mysite and someone has a geocities site called mysite and 50 other websites are linking to it somewhere (guestbooks, indexes, links pages, etc.. etc.. basically any kind of link) and then someone owns www.mysite.com and there are only 5 links to that site on the internet then the geocities mysite will appear.

Apparently there are companys that will get your website on the top of search engines though, i'm not sure how they do it. one such company is www.getfoundonsearchengines.com i think...

I really don't believe in any of that paid search engine submission stuff. It's really just a scam if you ask me. There are certain things they can do to help you get youre site listed and ranked up there, but I don't think they can really just get you ranked number one just like that. That site you mentioned ( www.getfoundonsearchengines.com ) claims they'll get you ranked top 3 on all major search engines. But the question is what does that mean?? :D

What I think it means is that they'll get you ranked top three for certain key words. So for an example say you had the website snowboardgurus.com, they would probably get you ranked in the top three for the key words "Snowboard gurus." So when somedoby searches for snowboard gurus you would be right there at the top. And who's going to search for them keywords? lol probably someone, but not as many people as you'd like. So you see how it is just a big scam?? lol

You can easily get a site ranked on top for certain key words.

Go to http://www.google.com and search for "design talk" and you'll see what I'm talking about. :D

But then again how many people are going to enter design talk into a search engine? lol probably not that many. It would be much much harder if not impossilbe to get it ranked number one for the key words Web Design whether you're paying or not. :)

Okay now say for another example you have a web hosting company with the domain webwebwebwebwebwebhosting.com and you pay them to give you top three ranks in all major search engines.

Do you think they'll be able to provide you with these ranks for the key words "web hosting" ........ I don't think so. :D

IMHO stay away from search engine submision companies that say give us your money we'll get you ranked number one.

Search engine optimization services can be a different story though. :D

And for google rankings here's some info on that:

Well I managed to get rid of that frame or what ever it was that was loading every time I would do a search, but I still don't know what it was.

It quit doing it after I changed the setting for allow third party browser plugins to no in internet explorer.
