My traffic has been relatively steady and yet my google income is slowly decreasing. Is there any tricks you can suggest to help me increase my click-through rate?

Thanks for your help.

Well, my monitor is set to 1025x768 and I see a whole LOT of free space on ur site. I'd say a "skyscraper" would do nicely along the right side there.

Thanks for the reply.

I believe there is the possibility of "over advertising" if I get too greedy. Do you think that more banners would make it look too cluttered or am I currently "under advertising"? That is the biggest question I have been contemplating when attempting to fix this myself.

Personally, I think that you are "underadvertising". It's really your choice though. I will say, though, that you can get away with placing two ads on a given page and not have it look cluttered. Just be sure to "color-coordinate" them with your site. Good luck!

You could easily blend a skyscraper onto the right side of the page in the orange and you'd see your CTR go up since it would be right next to the content.

You can use 3 ads. Take advantage of that.

yeah, lots of wasted space on the right, should at least experiment with a sky scraper for a while and see how things go for you

Thank you everyone for your help. I have added the skyscraper on the right. I'm looking forward to seeing the click-through rate increase.

You should really add it to the left because then users will see it without having to scroll over.

Thank you for the reply

If the ads were placed on the left then all users with low resolutions wouldn't be able to see the tests or main content without scrolling. I would rather have the users see the main content without scrolling than the ads.

I definately agree, you can include more adds into your page.

I am on a 15.4' widescreen laptop, and you have more than plenty of space on your right hand side.
In regards to beeing too greedy, as log as your content is the main eyesight and not advertising, you are just fine.
Keep up your work and us posted, I like what I see.

Is your click volume decreasing or are you earning less and less for each click? If you are experiencing a decrease in click values, this is probably being caused by the new "smart pricing" feature for AdWords. Adding more ad units may help, but if you really want to make good money with the program you should build more sites with unique, quality content and geared toward a more competitive market.

As always, IMO.

Hi,

I have noticed a similar trend on my site. There are a lot of companies getting into the PPC business, possibly pushing down the click values. You might want to play around with format and placement of your ads a bit. I notice that you're not putting adlinks on your site. I've had some success from adlinks on mine.

Plus one adlink and one search box. These can add some revenues to your site, without taking too much space. Their drawback is that they might compete with the ad units.

Do adlinks make more then regular banners?

Against TOS to discuss that, I would suggest you trying them out yourself.

Why not redesign your site so that it is sizes to accommodate the range of displays? I am viewing at 800x600 and I have to scroll over to view the adsense skyscraper.

Your observations are correct. I've noticed a 40% drop in PPC income on Sedo - which is using Google - despite the same number of visits & clicks. The PPC for the same keywords has dropped severely. I guess that's a spit in the face from Google for us all that made its stock hit $227 !

Google isn't the one that really changes the CPC, the rate is always changing with what the Advertisers are spending for click. So all the time the keywords are changing in price.
