The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

If you are using WordPress, you'll want to place it in the footer. It needs to be on every page as a lot of visitors will never see your front (index) page and wouldn't be counted.

If you use WordPress, you may want to grab a server-side statistics plugin like FireStats.

This could be for a few reasons. Many people run script blocking softwares that prevent scripts like Google Analytics from running. This is why I recommended server-side analytics tools like FireStats. You can always use both, as they are free, but you'll quickly grow frustrated with the difference in stats.

isnt Cpanel server side ?

But its figures are un-believeable !
150 average visitors per day for a just opened blog ???

The google analytics code should be placed before the </body> tag on every page of your site. With wordpress, this is done by just adding the code to the footer.php file (before the /body tag).

The difference in stats is probably due to different measurement definitions. The 150 may be impressions or visitors and the google stats may be unique visitors. Find out the definitions that each stat program uses for measurement.

different stat scripts records visitors differently
google analytics code filters bot visitors so that must be causing differences

Mine got 500 the first day :)

But that is a good number too!
My Google shows like 20 Max each day.
Its annoying. Use AWStats

Google Analytics is providing a new tracking code that will detect whether the web page it's tracking is an HTTPS page, and will select the appropriate URL to connect back to the Google Analytics server either in HTTP or HTTPS.

This will prevent your web browser to display a warning message if the web page contains a mixture of HTTPS and non-HTTPS URLs.

Use both Analytics & FireStats. It'd give you better idea of your sites stat once you get used to the differences & parameters.

Google Analytics tracking code is javascript based...as long as they don't provide some kind of API for doing visitor tracking server side, you won't see visitors who have javascript disabled.
