It hasn't been my style to reg names of this nature, but I think there is room for a 3rd party to analyze and follow the Google IPO and subsequently their stock, so I took the plunge. It is my understanding, from another thread, that the use of a company stock ticker symbol is not subject to TM infringement. Google was just assigned "GOOG" as their ticker symbol.

GoogIPO.com
GoogStock.com
GoogEngine.com

Appraials and comments, plz...
Should I duck? Call my lawyer?

Varies from symbol to symbol/ co. to co.
General Motors, "GM" has 65518 OV searches
American Express "AXP" has 1585 whereas AMEX (not the symbol) has 37751
Suppose it depends upon the public's familiarity w/ the symbol as well as how closely it resembles the companies name. My guess is that Goog will get alot of press in the short term and that it is easily associated w/ the name "Google". But good question.
B-)

A popular stock but the ticker symbol is not a commonplace everyday variant for the name google.

In my humble opinion:

I don't believe these domains are worth anything over what you paid for them. Now, if you had goog dot anything....

It wouldn't be commonplace, as of yet, in that the ticker symbol was just assigned yesterday. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/9253883.htm?1c It still may not be commonplace, except among investors, which may not be enough to carry the name.

You may be right. I'm going to throw the googipo.com up on ebay, low start, no reserve, to try to sell, or at least see how many hits it gets.

I own several stocks for different companies, and I'll tell you right now I wouldn't type there ticker into my browser or into a search engine. I would go to bloomberg.com or some other accredited site. However, others may do different? I dunno.

Approx 15,000 people/ month type in AXP for American Express. I take it that you are not one of them. Last month, there were 10968 searches using "google ipo" performed on Overture. The AlexaTraffic Rank for googleipo.com: 1,078,509 (up 3,462,710)
Just look at it as a high risk stock option investment of 23.85 that doesn't come due for a year. Not saying this is a great set of names, but wanted to take a shot, nonetheless. :D

I put all three up at eBay->http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5712139100&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT, so will see shortly what the general reaction is.

Google is structuing their IPO so more of the general public will have a chance to buy stock. If you're able to provide a website that answers common questions about buying GOOG stock, you'll have a winner.

GOOGStock.com is excellent!! Maybe $300+

Development must be done asap though to realize full potential of the name.

Is it GoogStock.com or GoogStocks.com as the auction says the latter?

Thanks,
Scott

I don't have the time, was hoping to find someone that does and is into it- thus, the short, 3 da, auction @ ebay and low starting bid. I am willing to sell @ a low price, and make a small profit for the idea, that is, assuming that someone else that likes the idea happens to see that the names are for sale and believes the idea to be worth a few bucks. .

goog isnt very common as a replacement for "google". besides, people would be more inclined to search "google ipo" instead of "goog ipo".
