On afternic there are two choices when listing a domain;

1) General Promotion 10% commission
2) Expended Promotion 20% commision There the say that they will advertise your domain to all their partner sites and hopefully reach end users.

Is it worth it? Has anyone had good results? If so, what kind of domain was it and how long did it take after listing to get a sale?

I have been with Afternic for a year - cost me $20 - got domains on basic promo and extended promo and never had a sniff of interest from anyone

Sedo is just the same but at least it's free

h2 - the only ones I've sold have been on here - apart from 1 on Ebay. Selling is a lot harder than buying ! But I intend getting in touch with end users as recommended in this thread - http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/68798-how-to-find-potential-end-users.html -

I also came to an 'arrangement' with a guy on here calling himself a broker, we chose some names for him to market in exchange for a percentage of the sale, then after that I never heard from him again ! Lol. He never wrote back with any news of potential sales, and he never even answered my PMs. Am I paranoid or is the world a weird place full of loonies ?

I have a few on the extended promotion and a few on the standard one, neither of them get any bites. Although it doesn't cost any money up front, just a higher commission, so why not just up the price a bit and give it a try?

DR - Afternic costs $20 up front - at least that's what it cost me for a year's 'subscription' which I won't be renewing

I have talked about this on my blog Many Times, but I have the same results as most here do. I even ran a test and parked several of my domains with ActiveAudience and pointed the for sale link Directly to the domains specific listing page at Afternic. I got one offer for the whole month.

After going back to my normal method : Parking my domains with Fabulous.com and marking the domain for sale, my average of 3-5 domain offers a day got back to normal.

TIME is key for selling a domain. List your domain as many places as you can, but make it Very Easy for an interested party to contact YOU when they visit your doamin! Why put your trust in a 3rd party? Afternic's reported sales each week include 85%-96% of domain names THEY own!
