Theres two ways around it...

1. use a .info (total gets to around $2 something)
2. transfer in a .com at $6.99

For me I always have names I can transfer in so I just do that. But definitely don't do a renew as you won't be able to use another code. A transfer in or a .info so far has worked out the best price - for me anyway.

Anyone else have any other ways around this? Would love to hear.

This is currently the lowest price for new registrations without any limits (minimum quantity order, one name per account, etc).

Had the same issue...here's what worked for me:
Start with a cache clear of cookies.
Add the name you are interested in @ 2 years of reg.
Input the soccer99 code
IF the code still works, it should come to a total of $12.06 (if I remember correctly)...it will discount the first year to $0.99 + ICANN ($1.17), & then the second year is at the $10.89 rate.
Since you are interested in just the $1.17, adjust the registration length in your cart to 1 year.
It should take off the second year ($10.89), leaving you with just the $1.17.

My .in transfer in was only = .99 so I just renewed a .com
still saving alot of $ so why not :P

usually for these coupons I just add a .info and then np auction it!

it works for .com, but I was transferring a .in so there are no ICANNTDOANYTHING fees :p

At the end I added hosting...undiscounted

Just using different CC won't help. You have to use it for different accounts.
Although it's not ethical, but if these 2 accounts are of 2 diff partners or family members, it's little bit more considerable.
