I won a domain name via closeout on the 24th of last month and for some unknow reason, it hasn't been delivered. This is so weird and I had to contact Godaddy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, below is a reply I got from GoDaddy regarding when I would get a domain name that usually shouldn't exceed 5 days.

This means that I wouid have to wait for a month to get the domain name.

Please, is this a new rule that I am not aware of or my eyes are deceiving me?

@GoDaddy I need my domain name NOW!

Thank you.

The delivery time has not changed. A domain goes to closeout after auction without any bids but that doesn't mean the domain has left redemption. Depending on the registrar the domain is with, it can take up to a month to complete. If you're lucky, it'll be a couple of days, if you're unlucky, it'll be a month. You can get an idea for how long it'll take by looking at whois (more time since it expired = quicker delivery).

Keep in mind that it is not your domain until it is in your account. Redemption is very unlikely by the time a domain makes it to closeout but it is certainly possible for the registrant to rescue it. You will receive a refund if that happens.

The time reported in the GoDaddy Auctions Wins section is typically a little conservative and you can expect the domain to arrive sooner if the date is weeks away. If the domain is showing as February 22nd via Auction Wins, I expect it will arrive around the 15th.

You are wrong, especially when the domain name is registered with GoDaddy.

It never exceed 3-6 days for closeout domain, including those from different registrars and nowhere does such exist where you have to wait for a month to get a domain name you won via auction after payment.

I have many domains that have exceeded those numbers. Just this week I had a $5 closeout domain arrive on day 9 after payment. Auction domains that take 14+ days are very common. Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to extract data to give exact figures but I'd guess at least 20% of the domains I win in auction or buy at closeout take 14 days or more.

Lol... I told you that you are wrong. The domain has been delivered to my account according to the email I just received. I knew the support person in the email didn't know their job and that was why I came here and also on X.

It shouldn't take MORE than 3-7 days for the closeout domain, and you are just letting them waste your time by not complaining but accepting their laxity.

Next time, if the closeout domain is not delivered within 7 days, complain.
