GoDaddy auction sucks

I saw a good name listed there and placed a bid. there are several hours to go before the auction end. I actually don't like that name so much, so the price I just bid for is the highest price in my mind, and I leave the browser window open and do other things. However, when I came back, I just see that bidding price for the name go to a high level and the bidder is ME!!! What happend? Did the bidding page automatically bid for me? If so, godaddy is too evil!

Another question, can I give up the biding? What's the penalty?

More bidders must have entered and chased the bid up by bidding a lesser amount than your max. This will push your proxy bid higher and higher, until that point it is exceeded and you drop from bidding.

GD only bids for you until your max bid. Not over that.
You can see at all time your maximum bid on an auction.
Maybe you typed 2000 instead of 200.

Stop blaming godaddy.

You set a max price, and left, another bidder came, and bid, and pushed your bid higher as you had set a bar.

You by not fulfilling your bid, you are no more ethical, than the unfounded accusations you are making.

Penalty is simple, and justified, suspension of your account.

By placing a bid you draw attention to the domain and attract other bidders to compete with you. The system automatically bids on your behalf, until the amount that you have declared as your max bid is reached. It never goes above the max bid. This is all in the rules that you clicked that you agree with, when you signed for GD Auctions.

If you refuse to pay, the worst case scenario is that your account will be suspended, and the paying methods that you have used so far (credit card, Paypal etc.) can no longer be used to pay for GoDaddy products in future.

This is not GD's fault, they did exactly what you asked them to do. Do the right thing and buy the domain you bid on. People that bid on auctions and then don't pay are among the worst people in domaining. You wasted everyone's time and all because you didn't know what you were doing. Accept it and make the best of it. I'm guessing you are new to domaining and if so, this will not be the last mistake you make that will cost you money, just learn from it.

If you put in a regular bid, then no, it shouldn't bid up. If you put in a max bid then yes, that's standard practice.

Hi guys, I never say I will not fulfill the bid, I just want to know more about gdd auction as this is the first time I use it.
