That's my opinion. I still fail to see the harm in a referral link in your signature. I think you're wasting your time going through everyone and telling them to erase them. What's the big deal? Who EXACTLY is a referral link hurting? Who objects to them? Shouldn't you be trying to help your members (people signing up through a referral link doesn't hurt anyone - rather it enormously aids people), rather than shooting them down with this inexplicable rule?
Two ENORMOUS thumbs down on this.

John

I have an idea, why not only let certain Np members be able to have Ref links in there sigs

That would be totally impractical, imagine the jobs the staff would have to ensure that only people on the list were allowed, everytime they saw an affiliate link they would have to go check if the person is on the allowed list.

It's all good and well doing that on a small forum but not 1 that has over 10,000 members

Better than banning all affiliate links in sigs all together....besides that's why they are here to run this site..it doesn't run itself..hell i'll take the job of making sure those who are not suppose to have them don't..not a big deal..make it known if you put a aff link in your sig and you are not allowed then you get a warning..second time is ban...easy enough..hell you can even make it that those who are allowed aff links in their sigs must look out for links that are not allowed..always more than one way to skin a cat :imho:

Just a few things I thought of saying.

How much of the time do you read anyones signature?

If your linking to a site to help them, an affiliate link wont help. If you really like that site then you should link to it without having to get something in return for it.

I read just about everyones sigs, also if a company you like is offering an aff link to refer others why would you just link them without the aff link...in a perfect world yes we all should just link to things w elike for free but in real life we need money to pay the bills....

If your source of income comes from a link in your sig..... *sigh*

If you wish to have a discussion I suggest you not act like a little kid...I have no Aff links in my sig for one and two every little amount of money earned is money I did not have....and any money I get helps pay bills and whatever I need/want it for....from your comment I take it you have not reached the stage of living on your own and having bills to pay...

IMHO it makes you sig look "trashy" having to put "use caveman as your referrer" after the link. I don't see a difference in having your aff code in the link or after the link except for asthetics. Of course I'll go along with what the forum rules are, this is just my opinion.
