.GE administrator announced changes in rules that will make the zone open for international registration and reselling, effective April 15, 2018.

From my research .GE could be interesting for

- GErmany
- China (GE means princess, music, some other words if I get it correctly)
- Domain hacks (like Orange)

What do you think?

I am not sure about the current rules, I seem to remember that foreign companies are eligible for one domain, provided that there is a local admin contact.

Correct. This is the rule that will be changed on announced date. It will also introduce new registrars and the obligation to keep everything in English

Good I will probably buy a few to extend my business presence. I was in Georgia last July.
However I don't think it would make a good repurposed ccTLD (like for example .co or .me).

Update: New rules went live from April 16, 2018. Everyone can register, sell and transfer domain names. No local ID req or other bureaucracy.
