Lot's of good stuff in this report ๐Ÿ‘Œ

https://emt.gartnerweb.com/ngw/glob...on-officer/documents/2026-top-tech-trends.pdf

I've decided to take a punt on some DSML names, will it take off as a keyword? Who knows, but worth the reg fee to find out...

Domain-specific Language models

"What is it?

Domain-specific language models (DSLMs) are AI models trained on specialized datasets for specific industries or business functions, delivering higher accuracy and compliance than generic large language models (LLMs).

Why trending?

CIOs need measurable business value from AI. DSLMs reduce errors, accelerate deployment and cut costs for critical workflows like finance, healthcare and HR."

Also registered a couple of others off the back of reading this...

Smart picks. DSLMs feel early but the vertical approach (Finance, Health, Legal, etc.) makes a lot of sense โ€” those industries actually need domain-specific models for compliance. If the acronym takes off, even one end user could make the whole bet worth it.

So the DomainSLM is the next big thing in Ai? I thought it was the MCP (Model Context Protocol).

Who knows? There's so many moving parts within the space, I've chosen Dslm, but there could be money to be made with MCP domains....

If I understand right ( if not yell me) DSML and MCP can compliment each other, it's not a case of choosing one or the other?

Not sure about their compatibility although wouldn't be surprised is they are.

Btw, DSML stands for Data Science Machine Learning (probably also compatible with DomainSLM).

Nice, always like a 2 for 1 deal.....did see the acronym while looking into Dslm, widens the net a little bit I suppose...gonna have to change my acronyms to include domain like you do

I've always liked Gartner's analyses (and NickB sharing them!). When Gartner names a category, buyers and investors follow, and vendors reshape their roadmaps to chase that signal. In enterprise markets this feedback loop can actively steer where the market goes, not just describe it.

You've eloquently put my train of thought in writing without me being able to sort it out in my head ๐Ÿคฃ

I've always loved trend reports for this reason.....

It's not just reading, they've got to sift, sort, take an educated punt and be comfortable holding them for a few years..

Read away people.....

How likely do you guys think it is that the keyword โ€˜Specificโ€™ will be used in this niche?

Grok says it's "Extremely likely โ€” essentially 100%"

Just in case, I regged (in dot.com)

Specific // Agentic
Specific // Help
Specific // Work

I've no idea, I'm taking a small punt on DSML but "specific" could end up taking off.....

Its a case of pick your poison ๐Ÿ™‚

Wait, you are buying DSML names or DSLM names?

"Specific" makes sense to me as it's the most important word in the acronym DSLM.

Specific is also a generic word, unlike DSML, which is a technical acronym.

It's also 3 syllables compared to 4 in DSML.

Domain-Specific Language Models: Why Generalist AI is No Longer Enough

"Domain-Specific Language Models (DSLMs) are rapidly becoming the gold standard for enterprise intelligence as we move through 2026. While general-purpose AI once dominated the conversation, the โ€œJack-of-all-tradesโ€ approach is hitting a ceiling in professional environments where precision is non-negotiable"
