Hi,

I had this domain name for over 2 years now for a online game site. That was getting over 500K page views a day. Now I am burn out from working on the site and like to sell the domain name. This my first time going through this process so I have no clue how to go about it.

I was just wondering whats a good price to sell this name and how to find a buyer. The domain name is Game2k.com

thanks

How could you get 500k+ hits a day on a free host?

The value of the site will depend a lot on your traffic levels. You will need some way (stats) to show potential buyers of the site traffic.

If you have numbers that you can share, we can give you a general price range you could expect in a sale. Ultimately you'll have to decide what it's worth to you.

Btw, did you see this Domains Wanted thread by a fellow NP'r?

hi again,

DaZ884, I just recently stop paying for my service host last month and moved it to a free server because I didn't want the site to disappear. It helped so many online gamers find new games and help new games get launch. That I thought its better to just leave it up than just remove it all together. My site was never a business, it was more like a community site for gamers. Profit wasnt the issue. I just got so bored updating daily.

When a hobby starts to feel like a job than you know its time to quit.

-RJ- before I quit working on the site. It was getting between 400K-500K pages views a day. Not sure thats alot, but like I said it was never a business. Just a hobby for me on the internet.

i'm not looking for big money for the domain name. just something that will make me say OK fast :) hehe I have no idea about price. I never went through this process before. I cant say if $5 dollar is fair or if $1,000 is fair. I have no clue.

Your sites current value is going to depend on current traffic levels. My guestimation based on link popularity and search results is it might get up to a few hundred visitors a day. My suggestion is to get some stats going on the site so you can report accurately and know what to ask for the name.

As a potential buyer, I wouldn't know whether to offer $50 or $5000 from the information I have seen so far.

Btw, 400-500k pageviews a day is a massive numbers. With those kind of views, you would be easily making $300+ a day in ad revenue. Archive.org shows the name hosted on Tripod's free service since 2001. What happened?

its always been on tripod. maybe back in 1998. Not sure anymore its been a long time. It was my first web site that I made, and I just never moved it. The domain (Game2k.com) name is only few years old, but the site been there alot longer. When tripod started to do there pay host with more bandwith and stuff. I just started paying for that and kept it there. I never had a need to move it.

I wish I made that kind of money. I didnt use pay per view banner ads. I Just never thought about that. I Only use banner ads from ebgames.com, ebay that I only made money 5% when somebody bought a game or something. I didnt make hardly anything from that. I didnt care like I said it was a hobby. I didnt run the site for money.

I am not a web master who knows all this web building and driving more traffic stuff. I just added new game links daily thats it :) hehe

I am kinda hoping for maybe $150 or higher for the domain name. anything less would be a waste I think. Dunno thats why I am here asking.

Thanks for your replys sofar.

"Game2K" to me means or illustrates "Game2000", as in the Year 2000. In this light, it is "dated" and would be of little use in the year 2003 or beyond, plus I would see more relevance if it were "plural", as well ... ie., "Games". The residual traffic could add to its value for a potential suitor, as well as existing substantiated traffic, stats ... but for a domain name only, Reg. fee - $25+ (wholesale), IMHO. You may also be able to achieve your $150+ figure to a potential, suitable End user, as well ... as darksk8er has provided above.
My hope is that you can substantiate and present the existing (and even former, to some degree) traffic numbers to a suitor to potentially increase these valuations, in the end.
Best of Luck and Welcome to Namepros. :)
