Hello,

What is the general opinion on buying or registering game related domains? rather than flat out treading on a publisher or developers IP, ie star wars dot com, the hobbit dot com etc....

something related like mohmaps dot com (medal of honor) or torwalkthroughs dot com.

are they worth registering for the following or potential?

I have registered one or two that developed, could be lucrative but i wondered if any other domainers had dabbled and was the payoff worth the development time?

for the record i haven't included my two registrations. :)

Dont take trademark names, all you saids are trademark..if you take "star wars" all over forum cant save your a**, be careful...

"I have registered one or two that developed, could be lucrative" you are asking, but you did not register any game related domain..Anyway i like armour games.. maybe 2-3 steel can be good choices, use the "steel" at your game site...

that's pretty much what i said about not wanting tread on a publisher or developers IP.

for example mohhub.com is a domain i reg'd, now i'm not blatantly naming the game medal of honor but clearly it references it by the MOH acronym.

reg'd purely to sell to an end user, prefereably without having to develop it but if needs be i can knock up something pretty quickly.

(the new medal of honor game launching may help)

mohhub could work if you plan to develop it and you write unique content related to your target subject. I do not think it would be a legal issue as far as TM is concerned unless the publishers of the game are using "MOH" as a TM. In the end though its all going to be about you developing it or you pitching it the right way to the right end user.

Trader - I don't think funky was trying to build a flash game site, which if I understood you correctly you said for him to try something like armor games has done. His idea was more along the lines of building a community site based around a single game/series. Besides, steelgames.com is already registered, but can be purchased for $1,395.

P.S. I am not a lawyer, use any advice at your own risk!

hit the nail on the head dnp. was thinking along the lines of a community 'hub' related to the medal of honor series.

I have zero interest in that kind of game, just saw an 'ad' for the new medal of honor game and thought there may be an end user for it.

I usually park them, and go back to them at a later date but just knocked up a quick single page lander. if nothing comes of it it'll just expire in a year.!
