G-r-e-e-n.org

Got inspired by the domain discussion thread regarding green domains are better at .org than .com and i went regged this immediately. Would surely be holding it this time and not drop. But i'm just wondering if there's any immediately value?

Thanks people!

I'm assuming the name is G-r-e-e-n.org, correct?

Well, I myself am not a big fan of the dash-word names. However, there are lots of people on ebay willing to pay $10 (at least) for some four letter words like this.

Being that this word is a particularly hot topic at the moment, I could see it going up to $20 or more depending on who the audience is.

That being said, I'd probably be willing to drop $10 on it.

Hope this was helpful, any rep points are appreciated! :)

You are right IMO that it has value and the green goes well with the .org for sure. BUT no one really knows yet the value of these yet (except the past sales that were posted recently). We need more hard evidence of parking/mini site/ full site success eg- traffic/rev. There obviously is a reason around 80% are regged (.com's). I wish we had an updated figure (I know people are buying a lot of these).

good luck, gary.

The domain forums and ebay* are the only segments of print, visual or electronic media where I've seen more than isolated examples of words with hyphens between each letter. It appears to be a domainer invention with no traction in the real world. Deep pocketed buyers determined to buy specific multi hyphenated dot orgs are a rare breed. A more likely buyer is a low budget domainer capable of finding a name like green-mountains.org for reg fee in 5 minutes. The availability of comparable or better reg fee names, combined with the unlikely prospect of any type in traffic, make reselling for decent profit a tough proposition. Domain selling prices and liquidity are shrinking for the first time in over 5 years. Non-hyphenated generic keyword names are selling at significant discounts to 2006-2007 prices. Targeting multi hyphenated names in this environment is a high risk low reward strategy.

appraisal: $x

* sales technique for multi hyphen names observed there: omit hyphens in title to encourage click thru. Misleading and desperate sales techniques are also common with 0/o substitutions and fine print IDN disclosures, rarely signaling good investments.

If you want to sell it list the domain on ebay. I don't think domains with this many dashes are usable, but on eBay the buyers disagree. However, I think many of the domains like this are sold to noobs not reading the description.

The title will be misleading and say "Green.org" then in the description it says "G-R-E-E-N.org" for example.

I don't know what people see in these hyphen domains, if you ask yourself who ever would want to buy it? Who would ever want to develop it? Who would ever want to brand it? Who would ever want to advertise it? I think the answer is nobody, not now or in the future. Heck it's an ordeal just to type it, much less trying to tell someone a url -- G dash R dash E dash E dash N dot org.

I think the market for these is solely resellers who for some reason think they'll be worth something someday, but what do I know...

I guess the name isn't to bad, The name itself is easy to remember because its written so strangely. Maybe $XX

Personally, I can't see any resell value here, but good luck.

I have seen these "dash" names sell for $20-50 on E-bay most recently and then several go through without a bid. Good Luck
