Wondering if you are a full-time domainer or a part-time-domainer, domaining as a hobby to generate some extra source of income, a developer who develops domain names after acquisition or just trying this out to see if it works for you??

As for me, I am a part-time geo-domainer with 90% of my portfolio in geo-domain names and specialize in outbound marketing.

How about you?

My heart is in developing.

My mortgage is paid by ecommerce.

Domaining has always provided me with beer money + given me an excuse for the domains I register or buy to develop and then regret / change mind. I can tell myself that I bought it to list on sedo or something :xf.wink:

I'm part-time, but I'm enjoying the web site experimentation, and other associated aspects, so it's become a pretty large part. Fortunately I'm retired, so I can explore things like crypto-currencies, virtual assets, and the depop policies of the new world elite.

I can understand the possibilities in geo-domaining, but unfortunately it's not an area that I understand. However, I'm coming to the conclusion that specialisation is a more relaxing and profitable approach, so I'm starting a portfolio clearout, and a minor acquisition programme.

I'd classify myself as more of an addict. I don't have a full time job (never have), but because I only sleep 4-5 hours a day, I'd say I work this gig 6 hours a day, and that would include weekends. My time is spent researching, analyzing, learning, networking and buying domains. I've spent about $6,000 in the last 12 months accumulating/buying domains that fit my business experience and knowledge. I would say that 80% of the domains that I've bought specifically apply to the top 20 revenue grossing professions and industries around the world. For example; healthcare, legal, financial, auto/transportation, food services, building, general retail and sports. I stay clear of things like tech and bitcoins because I've never been educated, experienced or competed in those areas.

I also like to explore what I see are niche opportunities for domains that I might like to own for my own business, or for other businesses and professions that I'm familiar with. As it turns out many of the recent domains I've bought can be branded which has added to the value of my portfolio, imho.

Members here think I have a lot to learn before this gig can be profitable, but that's like music to my ears.
If you've ever heard the expression, "if you're looking for a great new idea, read an old book". Well, I'm that old book who believes there's really nothing new under the sun.

Yes, I'm addicted, but I'm kind of like a functioning alcoholic who's able to drink, be productive and be happy all at the same time:wacky:

I do it as a hobby. I work fulltime so. And so far I haven't sold as much as I bought/reg. I would love to make some decent sales one day...

To be honest I was drawn into domaining from a thread in my country. The of of that thread made domaining looks easy. I picked up the impression that I can just buy domain today and sell it within a year for any profit I want. Although he might not have expressed things that way, but that was what I thought.

So after picking up 10 names and selling one for $750, I thought I've found my FULL TIME business. But I was wrong.

So the summary of it is that I once took domaining as a full time. But now, it's more or less like a hobby

For me it's a passion. I truly f*cking love domain names. Everything about it- acquisitions, sales and personal ventures. It's not necessarily full-time, but when I do it, I do it hard. A good domain name can stand alone in its awesomeness with even zero content. A crappy name can only float on its content.

I'm just a beginner with a portfolio of about 10 domains, but I love the idea of holding valuable digital assets.
I especially love how entire business can be built upon a single domain.
To be fair I just started out with domaining, but I understand the hosting aspects of it very well.

Im just a hobbyist that likes the quick flip, as Henry Cole always says SPQR (Small Profit Quick Return)
