Originally after first purchasing the domain I was told that it may well be trademarked, so I have done nothing with it.

However since then I have been told that ftse is trademarked but not ftse500 which makes this domain legal.

Very confusing to say the least.

Any ideas on value for this domain should i wish to sell it.

I'm pretty sure that the fact that you're still using "FTSE" brings up a trademark concern. Making it even more likely is that you're using the trademark "FTSE" in the context of an actual financial product owned by that company. I'd consider that to be a significant trademark risk myself.
