Frustrating problem with FireFox

I've been using Firefox for years. As of recently, I'm experiencing a very annoying problem. Almost every time I click on a link that is supposed to open a page in a new window, the window appears but is much narrower than the content. It cannot be resized. Is there a setting somewhere to specify that the window should use the default size of the content? I'll attach a screenshot below...

Thanks

Option #1

Uninstall and re-install FF. This will resolve the issue.

Option #2

Once the resized window is open, maximize it and then close it and close FF. Then restart your PC and open FF and check. This might solve the problem as well.

Thanks... but there is NO maximize option. So if I have to, I guess a reinstall is in order. But I was hoping for a simpler solution.

Wait. Try this.

Windows:

* Click "Tools", then "Preferences"
* Select the "Content" tab
* To the right of "Enable Javascript" click "Advanced"
* Uncheck the box next to "Move or Resize Existing Windows"

OS X and Linux :

* Click "Edit", then "Preferences"
* Select the "Content" tab
* To the right of "Enable Javascript" click "Advanced"
* Uncheck the box next to "Move or Resize Existing Windows"

Reinstalling isn't all that bad. At least you won't have to dive into sheets of coding. :D

Edit: Oopsies! I didn't see the last post in the thread.

Thanks for trying, but this still doesn't fix the problem, even after a reboot. Very strange.

Have you installed lately an add-on, maybe disabling them one by one fixes it....

And, gototool.options.tabs...there you have the option to switch how the new sites are openend...just switch it to "Tab"

Hope that helps

Cheers,

Frank

heres a quick fix for anyone that has FF, loves FF, and wants nothing else BUT firefox. If anything EVER happens and its all jacked up? Dont bother going to the forums or the bugzilla thingy or stressing out lol. Go directly to hijack this. Itll fix whatever bug is going on. THAT sounds like a bug to me. Theres THREE ways to resize the page. Two are the same. One: if you have a scrolly thing on your mouse, press control and move the wheel scroll thing on your mouse. Two: control+ or control-. Three: tools, options, content.

If reinstalling it DOESNT work do the hijack this thing. I had a weird thing happening to me for almost 2 years and no one could help me. Hijack this fixed it in 2 minutes. Its easy. People in the forum WILL help you. And its quick.

try this...

on FF address bar type -> about:config

then under 'preference name' find dom.disable_window_move_resize
change the value to true by double clicking...then restart firefox..

I hope it works..

No, should I?

Gene, have you tried using Firefox 3?

Or:

Uninstall Firefox, then delete all registry entries. Then re-install. That should fix it.

I'll try these as a last resort... thanks!

Hijack this seems a little over whelming at first. It did for me anyway but if you just do what the directions say youll see its not really as over whelming as you originally thought lol. And itll prolly fix your problem.
