Its a brandable name, but its got the .us stigma. To an end user, it could go for low $xxx at least.

So the US extension is in a "freefall descent"????? Hardly. People are too casual in their use of dramatic common expressions.

End user sales (both reported and unreported) continue, there is a noticeable increase in interest in .US name drop catchers, and one can not casually overlook or disagree with the sheer potential size of the target market - both consumer and business.
