.co.uk is the main domain for the United Kingdom.

I own it. I bought a little while after Texaco didn't renew It and think it could be a great marketing tool for companies such as e.g. BP and car insurers etc offering free petrol to new customers.

What do people think?

think you could either do it yourself if you have hosting (i believe you will need PHP or ASP to be able to do it).... or i believe parking it at SEDO allows you to monitor traffic too but im only a noob so don't take my word for this

Host it and then you can check stats with various stat utilities builtin to most hosting packages

or you could add a web counter although those are not that reliable you can get one of google search for free.

check the stats for sure You may come up with some great and interesting results if you decide to develop this site..and offer it to some of the bigger companies around.

I don't really want to pay £10/$15 per month hosting it when im busy trying to develop 1 site at the moment.

I'll set it up on sedo to record visitors with a 'make offer' tag and come back to it in a couple of months.

I won't be selling this one easily though :bingo:

Given the multitude of Free Widget sites out there, this seems like a good idea (I'm making the assumption that everybody in England calls Gasoline "Petrol" and not "Gas" or "Gasoline" like we do here in the States). There seem to be a few Free Gas sites here in the states (offering Gas Cards), I'd look for similar sites in the UK to affiliate with at first (or troll around for companies that might be offering it with a car or other product).

I'm not sure how/if the higher price for Gas/Petrol over there would affect the domain's value, though (i.e. makes it harder for companies to offer free gas for a year promotions, or making Gas gift cards less useful/relatively more expensive).
