FreeBSD web server

I was hoping to switch my web server over to a FreeBSD-based server since the apache site says that the performance is a lot better than the windows platform. does anyone here have expierience on installing and configuring FreeBSD? I found on how to install apache web server, lookin for how to install PHP, and i am pretty sure how to install MySQL. Also, has anyone tested or used m0n0wall? it sounds pretty cool cuz i can turn an old 486 into a full fledged firewall, router, wireless router, box. anothe reature that i liked was the webGUI.

What is the difference between FreeBSD server and the other ones?

What about linx servers?

well i find FreeBSD and Linux almost identicle except maybe the archiecture. i could also use a linux server lol.

Fedora and Red Hat's also great for servers too...
