I want the table colours to appear in the browser as they do in edit mode. Why is this happening?

I don't know what you've done, but try using "#000000" for the colours.

What is a better program to use? I've got a lot done with frontpage. HOw would I convert all the info?

notepad for starters, although editplus is pretty good too.

I tend to use Dreamweaver MX 2004 to create and play with layouts (I still handcode them into the site), Kwrite for the actual editing, vi if im on a server with shell access, and Zend studio for my PHP editing needs.

WYSIWYG editors in general do a terrible job, and if you learn to rely on them, you forget how the HTML looks and you lose the sense for finding errors in your code.
