Hi,
This is a "theoretical situation" but I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure, if i ever found myself in such a situation, what i should do. The situation is as follows:

I have been emailing a couple of domain owners, the domains in question are top quality names, words, names etc. I emailed the owner of sex.com and they said that they want $20,000 for it.

What would i do? I don't have access to such money, should i post about the name here and see who get's the name, or what?

The domain clearly is amazing, and worth $x,xxx, xxx and the buyer only wants $xx,xxxx - What would you do in such a situation?

If you know that the domain is really worth $x,xxx, xxx and the only asking price is $xx,xxx I will definitely borrow the money or partner with the one I can trust.

If what you mentioned above are legit, that's a win win situation.

Only if you are very very sure the domain is worth to invest, then ask Rick Latona to finance you.

you should probaly line up some investors , first and foremost, nothing worse than seeing a sweet deal only slip away because of few grand...having investors first would insure a speeding deal. the longer the deal sits the longer the owner has time to do some homework... :alien: good luck

He will need atleast 30% down i believe. With this amount of money he may even ask for more.

Squid, if this in fact is worth $x,xxx, xxx you must ask yourself why do they only want xx,xxx? Do your research on the domain. Check the Archive.org, keywords, length, ect. There must be a reason they dont want the estimated value of $x,xxx, xxx.

Seems like I misnuderstood so I've edited this but if it sounds too good to be true it probably is - triplecheck the spelling etc... etc... some people stick in foreign characters in the place of letters to make them look the same as the English

Word. :sold:

I'm sure there will be some rich, trusty member here who would be willing to co-own this name (if it's really worth $X,XXX,XXX). :hehe:

You can find deals like this! I do it daily. Don't listen to what some say with, Ask yourself if the domain is worth X amount, or this doesn't happen etc.

The simple fact here is, Millions of people that own domain names, do not know they have ANY value! Why do you think there are 50K drops per day. Even if 5% of that 50K are considered "good" that's 2,500 domains. Then weed out the ones who "forgot", dead emails etc and you end up with the people that didn't even know there was value in the domain.

In the $20K and not having money, feel free to contact me or I would hit up the DigiPawn.com route as well. Flip it, pay back DigiPawn and enjoy the profit for doing your homework and KNOWING the domain had value!

I totally agree with you on this Yofie but there is a flaw in all of this. The domain in question from what i understand is owned by the owner of sex.com. Im pretty sure the owner of sex.com is able to price domains correctly. Although there have been amazing deals made in the past for domains, for instance i think OK.net sold for way under value and you could prolly quick flip that for a huge profit in a couple months.

If squid would be kind to pm me the domain. I would love to evaluate it myself and help with the research. Maybe help with the investment if he wishes.

I'm not saying i have a domain worth this much, i don't.
I'm saying theoretically if this were to happen, what would i do.

Common my friend, you better be quick and grab this once in a lifetime opportunity before someone else does. As what others has said, do a complete research on the name, blacklist status and etc.

Once you get the domain, do share your success story with us.

Do whatever you can to get this name!

Go out & get a personal loan, or borrow from your friends, family, whoever, or just do the purchase on your c/c if possible

Did anyone else think the OP said the owner of sex.com told him he could have it for $20,000? I was like WTF when I read that cause didnt sex.com sell for millions? It finally made sense when it turned out to be a hypothetical situation lol.
