Hi,
This is a "theoretical situation" but I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure, if i ever found myself in such a situation, what i should do. The situation is as follows:

I have been emailing a couple of domain owners, the domains in question are top quality names, words, names etc. I emailed the owner of sex.com and they said that they want $20,000 for it.

What would i do? I don't have access to such money, should i post about the name here and see who get's the name, or what?

The domain clearly is amazing, and worth $x,xxx, xxx and the buyer only wants $xx,xxxx - What would you do in such a situation?

Common my friend, you better be quick and grab this once in a lifetime opportunity before someone else does. As what others has said, do a complete research on the name, blacklist status and etc.

Once you get the domain, do share your success story with us.

Absolutely. If you don't take it, someone else will. That's better than buying a few thousand crappy domains and trying to get $1 from each.

I was in such a situation once. Unfortunately I didnt pursue it and the same owner still has the name.

What I would do is, give the lead to someone who will be able to buy it and I would make a deal with him, that if he ends up purchasing the name, he should give me a percentage on the price he acquired it for. But the problem here is how would you trust him and also how would you go about contacting such a person.

I still like that name alot! I wish I could have it.

I would have a contract drawn up just for this purpose.

Other side of the pond?

If you are U.S. based capitalize your own start-up company at $x,xxx, xxx, the domain perceived value, through a 504 DPO (Direct Publc Offering).

You can acquire without any debt instruments or interest-bearing notes carrying a monthly debt service.

If you retain 80% ownership of the stock in the newly capitalized venture and your domain is worth such $x,xxx, xxx, you gave extracted it's value at inception as opposed to develpment.

Treat great domains as having the value presently and leverage it according.
