ICANN has selected the former CEO of AFRINIC (Africa’s Regional Internet Registry) Adiel Akplogan as its vice president for technical engagement, a newly created role expected to deepen the organization’s efforts to improve its international presence and participation.

His role as AFRINIC CEO ended at the end of last month, and he is expected to start work at ICANN on March 1st and will be based in Montreal, Canada.

Never heard of him...but it wouldn't be a bad idea to see ICANN put more focus on ccTLDs instead of the dang new gTLDs
