Update 2: Site got several clicks today (Obviously due to traffic from sitepoint), BUT these clicks earned an average of $0.905 PER CLICKl!!! Perhaps bids for these keywords are actually picking up already...

The story behind this auction:

First let me stress that this is not my own website. I am not getting a
single cent for listing this site, even if the auction is extremely successful.
In fact, I even paid the $9.95 listing fee for this auction out of my own
pocket.

The reason I'm posting the site here, is to help a fellow SitePoint member,
who is 15 years old, and naively enough got himself into a $1,500 scam, and
dragged someone else on Ebay with him.

Basically, he sold an alienware laptop for an online friend of his, through his
ebay account, and received $1,500 via paypal. He then proceeded to send
the money via paypal to the actual seller (who said he can't sell on ebay for
some reason), and the guy just never shipped the laptop to the auction
winner. Naturally, after a few angry e-mails and calls, the buyer filed a
police complaint :( I can't say I blame him.

<name removed> is stuck in a situation where if he doesn't get enough money, he
might have to quit school and get a job for at least a while to pay it off. I
don't want to see that happen, and I'm sure you feel the same way.

Please do your best to bid on this website, and keep in mind that all money
made in this transaction will be to cover for at least some of the $1,500
currently owed. The site really does have a lot of potential, and if I was in a
position to buy it for a high enough bid, I honestly would.

There will be a lot of bonuses to high bidders in this auction, some from my
personal domain portfolio, and others from <name removed>'s. Again, I will not be
touching a single cent of the money in this transaction, and I'm even
donating a couple of domains I own.

Potential might be a 4 letter word in this forum (or is it 9 :D ), but I honestly
think it's key on this one.

More on the bonuses later on, stay tuned as I'm compiling a list

Sincerely,

Adi Friedman.

Revenue details:

I would like to stress that I personally believe the current positioning &
colors of the adsense ads are far from optimal. Not saying you can "explode"
the revenue by improving it, but some modifications are sure to get much
better results.

Revenue from Google Adsense ads, which are not placed too well on the site
at the moment.

Keep in mind that the all clicks currently have an incredibly low CPC.
This is because there are no sellers out there selling PS3 / Xbox 360
consoles, or games for those consoles.

In comparison, PS2, Xbox, Playstation 2 keywords in Google Adwords right
now have a $1.6 bid. This is during the least popular phase of these
consoles (The first year of their launch has obviously been stacked with
many more sellers bidding on those terms).

On top of that, I've seen keywords with a maximum CPC of up to $4.8 in
adwords right now for Playstation & Xbox (mainly with the keyword "console"
after the name of the console). You can just imagine how much buzz is
going to be heard across the net when the new consoles arrive, the
potential is huge.

Also, note this: you're getting a domain name that is already in an incredible
position to be ranked at the top for search terms that total over 10,000
searches per month. And that's right now - before the consoles are out.

The search terms are variations of the site's domain name - "PS3 Vs.
Xbox360", "PS 3 Vs. Xbox 360" etc. - These terms already top 10,000
searches a month according to the overture inventory tool.

So in essence, you're getting a site that's pretty much guaranteed to
multiply its revenue many times over in the future, due to 2 reasons:

1) The average payout per click is almost guaranteed to grow to around 6-
10 times as much as it is right now. These are my own conservative
estimates based on the current average CPC on current generation console
keywords - and obviously next gen console keywords will have a MUCH
higher CPC than current gen ones.

The current payout is low, since very little websites can make money off of
bidding on those keywords just yet.
In the future, console, game and
accessory sellers will be bidding left and right on these keywords.

2) Before the consoles are even out you have 10,000 people according to
overture searching for a comparison between the two, in a form that
exactly matches your domain name. This means that when the consoles do
come out, there will be a substantially larger number of people searching for
those same terms.

On top of all that, there's obviously an incredible amount of potential in
actually offering the consoles for sale (via affiliate links, ebay, etc.) and
pocketing commissions for each sale.

Naturally, if someone is looking for a phrase such as PS3 vs. Xbox 360, he's
more than likely in a position to buy one of the consoles, and just trying to
figure out which. Your site solves that problem, and as soon as it does that
for the visitor, you could be right there to close the sale and add another
happy PS3 / Xbox 360 console owner to the world :) Imagine the potential - seriously!

As you can see, a good chunk of our visitors are coming from the same
search engine keywords I outlined above, which are being searched
relatively often. On top of those, we are also receiving a lot of traffic from
many other, smaller keywords that together add up to quite a lot.

Description:

Very interesting design. The header is a unique header that was bought by
the owner, and then further customized by the original designer for this
site. Take a look at the site to get a feel for the quantity of the content
currently there.

The website is a Playstation 3 & Xbox 360 console comparison, from a
buyer's standpoint. Which should you buy? The answer is not clear just yet
(which is why many people are searching for it :)), but the website tries to
provide the best possibly and most updated information about the two
consoles, so that the visitors can decide for themselves.

20 Pages of content carefully describe the best features & benefits of both
consoles, allowing the user to make up their own mind.

As the auction unfolds, I'll throw in as many bonuses as I can offer - and I
do have some valuable ones.

Price (or starting bid): I'll start the auction EXTREMELY low, at $10, to encourage bids.

Is an auction?: Yes

Ending date: Thursday, 15th of September, 10:00 AM.

BIN: Make me an offer high enough, and it might sell.

RESERVE: There is a reserve to the auction, I won't specify where it
is at this point, but I can assure you it's low enough that it will be reached
for sure, soon enough.

Thank you very much for looking at this auction, and remember - your bids
are going to help him pay off his enormous (relatively) debt and stay in
school... Please do your best.
