Heya,

You may of looked at the title and now think I am crazy.. by already thinking about this. I know that 2010 is a long time away, but the idea has popped into my head and I am wondering what everyone else thinks. As the World Cup is broadcasted all over the world, I thought of setting up a prediction game for the 2010 world cup.

It probably sounds too early to be thinking about this but I want to decide whether or not I am going to go ahead with this.

Now I was thinking, a free to enter game where you login and enter your score predicitions to each match. So you predict the result to each game and score points according to how accurate your prediction was. The points are then stored in a league table. The people leading the league table after the world cup has finished will win cash prizes. Free to enter and you don't pay a penny!

I like this idea, because I feel people will enter for the fun and the prizes and it takes only a few seconds to predict a score for each game.

Now I don't have all the details in my head, but I have been thinking and really looking forward to doing this. I will only go ahead if people like the idea and think people will enter.

So I'm not going to say much more, but I am asking for your opinions because I am really curious.

Please post your opinions, and tell me what you think of the general idea and if people will enter.

Thanks so much,
- Adam ;)

its a bit too far ahead for 2010 world cup, although there is the rugby world cup later in 2007...how would you profit from it though if you give away cash prizes but have free entry?

The cash prizes would be obtained through partnership and advertising clients. There will also be donations and premium services.

oh ok, you could try it with the rugby world cup or otehr smaller events first, see if they work and if they generate interest then the football one will probabaly get alot more interest.

Its quite hard with the rugby, because you can't really predict the scores. I could do predict if it will be a WIN, LOSE or DRAW :P

I may try it with the Euro 2008, but not sure in the interest in it

yes rugby scores would be difficult, but win/lose/draw would be easy...and I think there would be interest in a euro 2008 version
