So I received an interesting email today from Flippa, Its weekly website auction advertising.
    Something immediately caught my attention.

    Screenshot_20171115-225122.jpg

Note that it's revenue is from Google adsense not from Netflix affiliate.

How does the business generate revenue?

    • Google Adsense 70%
    • VPN affiliate deals 30%
How is this possible? A blatant use of a trademark name selling on a public auction with 23 bids sitting at $7,500.
If this is allowed I could buy 200 trademark domains today install a rss feed with adsense and literally flip them on flippa.

    Should this be allowed?

Does flippa have any legal obligation to remove tm domain names from their auction platform?

Would love to read your thoughts on this matter.
P.s if I placed this post in the wrong section, I'm sorry.

Flippa was never the best platform to filter out trademark violations. Their mantra is, unless the tm holder complains, it's allowed.

Not only did they fail to filter out a trademark domain but they created and emailed me a advertisement on it.
They can't turn a blind eye now can they?
    Who's responsible for that?

Flippa wants their 10%, or whatever their cut is, poor sap who buys this will all the buzz will probably get hit with a C&D, and a UDRP, everyone else will get paid.

I guess a domain registration sitting dormant is one thing, when you are profiting off the likeness of this company that is another.

Flippa keeps stocked with Domain Holdings content, and has the odd surprise of a sale, but it is a broken platform for sure, really to bad.

I see your point. Doesn't look good. But I'm not a lawyer.

Maybe after seeing this thread Flippa will remove the listing, and own up to the mistake?

It's dirty business like this that burns me and should you.
"I" like many here spend years searching for clean domains with no active TM's and not blacklisted on big G in the hopes of profit.
Now granted I sold 99% of my portfolio August of last year and retired I still develop ecommerce businesses for myself. Granted I spend bucks doing so But now a whole new road has opened if flippa allows trademark domains to be sold on their platform.

    A. Buy a $1.17 trademark domain
    B. Free RSS feed plugin
    C. Install free Google adsense
    D. In two years collect $7k plus on flippa.

That's better than any bank I know!

    Absolutely Shocking....

I wonder if the TM holders can actually take action against Flippa as well ...for promoting trademark infrindgement

It really baffles me that Flippa deliberately does this. A lot of people (even more those who are not domainers, i.e. devs etc.) see them as "the company that doesn't care about other's IP". What is the upside in that.

The title of this thread is not true and is kind of manipulative. I wonder if author of this thread can be sued for spreading lies?

Really, is that your take on this? And to answer to your question: no.

I am just tired of seeing people manipulating information, since it is definitely not Netflix being sold on Flippa.

Yes, I agree with you, after seeing this tittle I jumped to this post without thinking a second, but then I see, hey Netflix won't going to sold, they are right now a sleep from last 2 year and they let this site owner to register there tm name, make a lot of bucks and be happy.

What I can see here, it's a pure advertising which the owner of that site is getting. Here someone already said on auction page. I wish all of you good luck to argue with him.
