Fireworks: 100% CPU usage!!!

Everytime I run Fireworks, it uses 100% of the computer ressources. I've tried closing all other programs, but it still using that much ressource, even when there's no tabs open.
I've tried the same on two systems: a P4 2.8 with 512mb memory and 64mb gfx and a P4 3.0 with 1GB memory and 128mb gfx, but that doesn't change anything.

Any suggestions?

fireworks wasnt desingned in thought of performance.

try downloading one of the updates:

haha... your computers are messed ^ then... i run a 3.8 xeon dual... and it doesnt even use 1% of my CPU :P (4gigs of ram... 512 video...)

I am not a graphics designer... but i am a hardcore gamer :D

I am also facing the same problem, whenever i start Firworks i see that fireworks is using minimum of 94% of CPU Usage and my computer gets slower than ever. My processor is Pentium 4, 1.7 Ghz with 256MB of RAM, 256MB of AGP & 85 GB of HDD(well 5GB is free with 80GB HDD) before it worked fine, without any hassel.

Found out it was because of the active firewall.

Those who have the same problem as I did, try turning off your firewall before starting Fireworks.
Now my CPU usage is only about 2%-4%

thanks man, it worked, i just turned off the firewall and it works fine, now it takes
4%-8% CPU Usage. Thank you very much.

You have to pay the price for the efficiency of fireworks compared to other similar products

That happens to me too, i just switched to photoshop cs2 :P

Fireworks is First rate... maybe you have WAY too many fonts installed

on the other hand photoshop is a great tool as well
