everybody knows firefox 3 was launched and it was, of course, promoted before its launching

good news is they were expecting about 5,000,000 million downloads but they had 8,290,545 with an average of 9,000 downloads per minute in the first 24 hours after launching it even with some issues they had and now they will be in guiness book of records

wow... what a great number of downloads they had!

nowadays firefox has about 170,000,000 users and its market share is 18% according to net applications

some details are here

The new features are great, but I just wish extension and theme developers would hurry up and make them compatible! I want my firebug back =[

No, however if you download and install firefox 3 it will keep automatically transfer all your bookmarks and stuff.

BESIDES getting new version or waiting till version upgrade happens you can always try "nightly build tester" tool to override the default version limitation of each or all plugin's
