Looking to get an appraisal and honest thoughts on the following domain:

firefly.org

I get a ton of offers on the domain especially from people pretending to be non-profits organizations.

I don't know much about judging domain worth or appraising for that matter, but thats a nice little domain you have there. For some reason it sounds like something mozilla would need.

I'd say easily three figures...

Potentially a whole lot more. It appears Microsoft owns the .com and .net even though they are not active. They've owned them since 1996. From that, I'd assume they have some interest in naming a product using them. In addition, I know of at least two major products named firefly. One is a kids phone, and another is an AMR transmitter. I'm sure there are others as well as the obvious insect usage.

Also, the .us version appears to be developed, and the .biz is owned by a major lab company.

I'd definitely hang on to that one. If you find a buyer, I own fireflies.info if they may be interested in a plural version as well.

Thanks yall for the comments. There are a lot of companies named starting with Firefly I have found. Some have emailed me. There was also that sci-fi show called "firefly" that they eventually made a movie about recently. So the name is very useful and recognizable by a lot of people. I personally really like the domain, so I plan to hang onto for sometime.
