Any appraisals would be appreciated!

I've seen lesser domains in this market sell for mid 5 figures...

Right....like there's no value in the Cannabis market especially considering Colorado and Washington have legalized it. Ridiculous!

people in general if they want to "find a smoke", don t search on the internet.

also in very little states, including countries, cannabis has been legalized.

it would be better if you took findcannabisseeds, findweed or simple find/buycannabis or marijuana

find smoke is more of a slang term, if you develop a website on it that sells cannabis seeds or even weed, then it may get some value but only based on that.

people don t search on the internet "find smoke"

Well...people didn't search on the internet for "ask jeeves" until the brand was built...

In addition to cannabis, this domain would be perfect for smoking related supplies as well...

Fanugi, i see that you know better then me the value of your domain so why not give it a test sell on this forum and see if at least you will recover your registration fee?

Remember one thing though, as a domainer, you sell an idea, not a tangible product.

Anyone can go and register a domain cause he think he has value but the hardest part is to convince someone else that your domain has your vision of value.

So, if you are able to do that, go ahead and convince at least the domainers from this forum that your domain has the value that you want for it and then the end users.

Myself, i registered at the beginning many domains and even bought one for 100 bucks cause i thought they all had some big shot value and then i have found the harsh truth on my own skin, barely sold some of them for the registration fee or a bit more.

After that experience, i hand registered another one and even on the .net extension, not .com like the first ones, sold it and recover all my losses.

With this experience, i just tried to warn you in this thread to not make the same mistakes that i did but i guess everyone needs to loose some good amount of money to learn something so go ahead and sell your domain.

Brilliant post. Domain value and domain+website value two different things. Like everyone here, learning the hard way what domain names really have value and what you shouldn't touch.

I can't find real value on this either.
If you're lucky, you can sell it for mid $xx.
Unless you develop it.

Offer in at $1,000... This forum is so negative. Sounds like a lot of people have bought domain names that didn't work out and want to project that on me...Sorry you pick losers but that's not my problem!

If you've already received a $1,000 offer, accept it before they read this thread and decide to lower it.
The forum is not negative, and this domain name, from a reseller / domainers point of view, doesn't have any value more than $xx.
Luckily there is a market outside the domainer's world, so any domain valuable in a low range can end up with a $xx,xxx offer. But it's extremely, EXTREMELY rare, statistically speaking.

Good idea. Is there any way to delete this thread?

So you have an offer for $1000 but it's listed on ebay for starting bid $499.99 and no bids yet?

•••
Yup - if the offer comes through obviously I'll end it...not that it's any of your business of course...

Congrats, you've just earned my first ever ignore on this forum

Once again, someone comes in here asking for an appraisal and then gets defensive when someone gives them an appraisal they don't like.

Read the rules:
Do NOT be offended by the appraisals you receive, as they reflect opinions from individuals who are volunteering their opinions and experience for free. In the end, the value of the domain is what it actually sells for, not what others think its worth.

Also, your argument about "Ask Jeeves" is ridiculous. When you come in here, you're asking for an appraisal on the stand-alone value of the domain. People don't give appraisals based on the potential or possibilities, or what can happen in 5 years. If that's the case then any pigeon shit domain should be appraised at 5 to 7 figures.

Regarding this forum being negative, we're not. Most of us who have been members for years know how tough the domaining industry is. We're just realistic.

Regarding your claim of receiving an offer of $1K, I don't believe it at all.

With that said, my appraisal for this domain is: $0 - reg. Who knows though... maybe you can get lucky and find a buyer who wants that domain. I've seen and continue to see a lot of crappy domains sell for $xxxx.

Cannabis is a relatively new industry in the United States. Treat your domain like an investment. Hold on to it for a some years. Wait for the cannabis industry to take off and the all the decent .com's for the cannabis dispensaries to be registered and sold off and sell it to a start up company down the road.

In the mean time throw up some content on the site and get some traffic. Develop a how to sight on how to get a license, where the prescribing medical marijuana Md's practice, and links to their sites. you can post the laws that people are confused about, news, rumors, medical marijuana penny stock companies that you might do well, basically everything that people are curious about for medical marijuana. Help people FIND that legal SMOKE. If you make a good enough sight with rankings and traffic when the industry is huge, and it will be, you could stand to make some real money. Right now though not so much.

Would be a good one for smoke detectors. Try selling to the USFA

It's a good concept for future planning but it's not there yet. You would need heavy development. If we both launched similar sites in this concept, my "findmedicalmarijuanalocally.com" would fair better than "findsmoke.com" but it all depends on what you develop the site into.
