Can you explain to me what Fayto is and why it would sell?

Just a friendly tip:

First: Delete Estibot from you bookmarks!

Second: When you see a domain that is available for reg, take 24 hours and sleep on it. I can almost promise you that no one would have picked up Fayto.com in that short period. Last time it was deleted no one picked it up for 1 & ½ year. When you wake up, see if you still remember the name and if you still think it is good. If not - move on.

Third: If it's not a domain you are going to develop, you might find it cheaper to save the domain in a txt file and buy it on a $0.99 - $1.99 promo (NetFirms, Dotster etc.).

It isn't really anything, just a five letter pronounceable made up word, I thought it sounded like fate-oh, which I though sounded positive and could make for a brand name or maybe a dating site.

What do you mean by my bookmarks? Where should I delete estibot?

Thanks for the tips, I think that is very good advice, I bought three five letter made up pronounceable words the same day, two of them I can remember, the other I have to look up even like the tenth time so that's obviously crappy, but then so is my memory!

And I bought them for $1.25, I'm not completely nuts.

Well, you know what bookmarks is right?

It's more like a saying.. People seems to use Estibot so much I'm pretty sure a lot of people have it saved on their bookmark bar. To be totally clear: Don't use Estibot for valuation if you're not suppose to hustle someone. Because here (On NP) most people laugh at most auto valuation sites and it has most of the time zero importance when it comes to domain sales.

Well, it's pronounceable sure. But it would not pass the radio test.
The “radio test” for domain names is this: can a potential customer find a company website after listening to a commercial and hearing the company domain name mentioned?

If someone said "Fayto.com" to me I would first write: FateO, Faeto, Fighto before I tested Fayto.

This is just my opinion, don't take it personal.

Thanks, I have looked at several free appraisal sites, they've all either been completely ridiculous, one claiming this to be worth $21,000 !! or they have said this is a "premium domain pay $xxx to have it professionally valuated", which is not much help. Estibot claim to be "trusted by the IRS", that is why I thought there may be some degree of accuracy, not sure just how accurate an algorithm could ever be though, the value is based on the feeling not only the formulas, right? But then it can't be all that hard for them to factor in the radio test into the algorythm. Anyway, I do appreciate your radio test advice, I guess it is not really just referring to the radio but also how easy it is to tell someone the name, no one wants to be spelling it out every time, "no I said Y not I", etc. Anyway, thank you for your help.

Short, pronounceable, fairly easy to spell. Five characters .com --- not great on the radio test, as mentioned, but still seems like the Estibot value is low. This is the type of name that would sell for a couple thousand to the right buyer.

Thanks, at this point I would be more than happy with the estibot value, I am just starting out at this, I have very little idea about values and even less of an idea of how to sell, any advice? What if I just wanted to get a quick $20 for it?
