FATHER / DAUGHTER TALK

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many
others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and
among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to
support more government programs, in other words, redistribution of
wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a
feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he
thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes
on the rich an d the need for more government programs. The self-professed
objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she
indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in
school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let
him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a
very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no
time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have
time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because
she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?' She
replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she
never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus;
& college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and
lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung
over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office
and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who has
only a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would
be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired
back, 'That's a crazy idea, and how would that be fair! I've worked really
hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work!
Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I
worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the
Republican party.'

Her Dads a moron piece of crap that twist the truth until it fits his politics

Most Americans are wise enough to see the BS for what it is and will ignore the rusty old fart that could care less about anyone else other than his own wallet and will take Dad out to the woodshed come Nov 4th
:hehe:

Really nice post. Moreover those who are sitting in those GOVT chairs should think what if they themselves worked hard for the money and if this kind of taxes were levied upon them. They are all doing this to get some votes, but a person who dedicates his life and wants to make a fortune has to pay a fortune in taxes.

If lots and lots of GOVT programs would start and the wealth distribution starts taking place really big time then no one will work as hard as they want to work because in end it is dissolved with this wealth distribution idea.

:'( Sorry but I felt the father was right. Did we had a sharing and distributing society ever? :(

- When a person is born he is alone.
- When a person dies he is alone.
- When a person commits a crime he is alone.
- When a person is successful he is never left alone. :-/

I agree ....

I think the daughter would be getting off easy just giving up 1 GPA point.
Thats only 25% of her earned GPA of 4.0 ...... She should have to give up at least 35% ....right? ;)

Yeah LOL 35% and if it is a kind of service then don't forget 12.5 percent service tax on the gross amount.

this story is so retarded, excuse my outburst....

if only life was as simple as that.

when i went to college i got a 82% average on one of my classes.

you'd think that was a B right?

but since the grade was on a curve that grade there was a 'C'...

now, you could argue that I should have worked harder to get that 'B'

but the majority of the folks that got the 'A' and skewed the curve cheated on their exams. They passed and got As and i stayed honest and got my well deserved 'C'

How did they cheat you might ask?

the exams were done on computers using Mathcad. The cheaters would bring in floppy disks with past homework problems.

It is not fair that my tax money goes to bail out the banks and corporations that cheated and lobbied (i mean 'worked hard') to get where they are.......

this is so old. the government gave tax cuts to the rich hoping it would 'trickle down' but the only thing that trickled down from these corporations was piss.

now if you came up to me 10 years ago I would have totally agreed with this story. Keep in mind i considered myself a 'republican' and i believed that if you work hard enough you will earn what you deserve.

But now, after many years of reflection, i believe this country is worth the investment. Like I said, if I had a quarter of a million dollars, you better believe i would be more than happy to stand up and give (yes even taxes) because it is going to my country. Isn't that what patriotism should be all about? Or is it just about fighting wars?

I'd rather see my tax money going to hungry children and single mothers than AIG anyday of the week.

one more thing...

it's funny that people with money assume that they are envied for their wealth....at the same time, make assumptions that government programs go to slackers that are lazy.

finally...we all pay taxes. everyone of us that works. the story is stupid because even the 'lazy slacker' would have to have her GPA cut...sheesh

i'm sorry, this story of 'you deserve what you earn' is a fairy tale corporations tell their employees to keep them chained to the cubicles....

When a person is born he is brought into this world with the help of doctors and the love of his mother. He cries in a cold new world but then is wrapped in a blanket and held close to his mothers heart and soothed. He is then raised and cared for by his family, without which he would die.

When a person dies, he is surrounded by his loved ones who morn his loss.

When a person commits a crime, he has the support of his family...right or wrong. Usually the first person that stands up for him is his mother.

When a person is successful it is because he had the support of his friends and family.

I believe we are more than just animals, and beyond this 'survival of the fittest' mentality.

Then write a check to a charity instead of giving my tax dollars which are meant to protect my family's life and liberty.

Yes, let's tax "rich" people and corporations more... That's no problem so long as you don't depend on a corporation to hire you. If you don't sell goods and services to "rich" people, then by all means - suck 'em dry! D-:

but in the mean time, lets suck the middle class dry... the only thing they are good for is giving up their sons and daughters to die in a useless wars.

Like i said before, it's like this country's a date gone wrong...they've wined...they've dined...they had their fun...and now that the check is due they're the first run and climb out the bathroom window.

you're probably right, maybe this country isn't worth spending a dime on. but this country IS hurting, and unless people start $hitting gold, money to fix the mess made buy Bush has to come from somewhere.

personally, i see taxation as a civic duty, and it's a part of being American...more so than waving a flag and singing country songs. I personally can't fight in a war, so i see my tax dollars as my way of supporting this country....now where my money goes...well, that's where my vote comes in. I dont know about you, but it seems that Obama does pretty well with money.

you're right...i don't 'depend' on corporations just like i don't depend on the goverment.....corporations will hire/fire/ and do what ever they want...regardless of a 3% increase in taxes or what have you.

What effect do you think a decrease in sales will have on a coorporation?

Look at the clinton era. He cut the taxes of low income workers and small businesses...he raised taxes by 1 percent on the wealthiest of americans. By the end of his term, the country had a budget surplus and the economy was in boom.

Since Bush's been around, well...money seems to disappear around that guy.

btw, i do give to charity with every paycheck...sometimes i wish i could make more so i could give more.

So he already pays the doctor for his services. And yes he also takes care of his mother when she is old so there is no need to pay taxes and help other people.
Isis said:

Because his loved ones are his loved ones and the taxes he pays don't go to his loved ones. Yes he can gift that money to his loved ones if he wants. but why to pay taxes.
Isis said:

Again same thing only family comes in and that is why he needs to save the earnings for his family and not waste that money in paying up the taxes.

Isis said:

So why pay taxes that will go in the pockets of losers?

hey here's an idea..lets tax the poor and Middle Class instead..lets Tax the 95% so the 5% can live even higher on the hog :D

Bottom line leaving anything up to corporations is the biggest mistake our Country could ever make ...they don't give rats ass about their employees or employees families which is why most of you are in here trying to make a living on domains and development..you're tired of the Corporate BS..just like everyone else

Every American as a human being deserves access to tools to climb higher like affordable education ,like affordable housing , like affordable Health Insurance .. If those tools are available then More young People will have full College education and they will climb higher in life (financially) and be able to afford to help those that due to age ,illness mental or physical that are unable to climb any further than their born abilities allow at least have basic access to basic health and housing.. I want Red Neck Joes Children to have access to an affordable health and education and college education so that they can go Beyond on RedNeck Joe their Father was able to provide..

Because the further they go the less we all have to pay..including the Top 5%

Our Government Does have Social Obligations ..and we all pay taxes either payroll or on our products /services and instead of bailing out the Corporations all the time .. we also need to offer these core investment safety nets of Health, Education, and Housing for it's citizens .

With Corporations in charge we the people have no voice.. with Government we have Voice and POWER to make changes ..because they know if they dont offer these things we'll send them packing the next election

Can you please explain to me how a budget surplus helps the economy boom?

Also, I'm not sure if you recall - but our country went into a recession at the end of the Clinton presidency...

No problem. With the new Obama regime, pretty soon you won't be able to tell them apart.
