Fantastico Scripts

Hi all,

I am looking at running a sorta freelance classifieds sites, and know zilch about php programming.

I am wondering what you all think about using an existing fantastico script (such as Noah's Classifieds) and then modifying it. Would it look too tacky on my site???

I just started this project about a week ago with noah's
yzpart.com

Its actually quite easy. I still want to add a footer, change the default ad box color, remove the table scale, and put some ads in from ebay 2 get the ball rolling.

Best to write it yourself. If it is a stable script it will look realy good on your site.

That is why i gave the link to the manual. I have read most of it and I can write scripts like that :D

Ok, so I should just take my time and learn from scratch?

I was thinking of using a fantastico script at least until I get well versed in php. It could take 6-12 months before I learn everything I need! I would like to get my site up earlier than that, and since I don't think anyone would offer to code my site for free (don't let that deter you from offering to do it for me for free!! hehe), I think I would be best to use this script until I learn properly.

I might be throwing in a few extra questions here and there (ie, I don't know how to make it so that people can pay to post certain classifieds), but at the moment, I will just concern myself with the site design.

Well, you could start off with a pre made script, though even if you do edit it you will have to leave the origional copyright notice. Good luck with it though (if you do a chapter a day, it won't be that long till you know enough to be able to write a simple one, or edit a advance one )
