Hi all,

Just getting my interest in cctld domains now. Mostly interested in level 1 extensions (One dot).

What registrar would you recommend for checking an extensive list of cctld's? So far i've been using namecheap, enom, godaddy...

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Excuse my ignorance :), but i'm new to cctlds.

Cheers,
Rhett.

EuroDNS.com is good for checking a lot of European, Asian and American extensions.
(But it's not the cheapest on a lot of them - local registrars are normally better).

if you want to check many cctlds at once you can check 101domains.com and instra.com, but avoid to register with them if you dont want to pay a lot of money more than in local registrars

I would suggest that you open an account with Hexonet.net - a reseller account.

You can also check the names without having an account, but there are some mistakes then, for reasons I do not know - names showed as being available while they are not. While the results are fine once you are logged in.

Opening a reseller account there is free, so there is just no risk for you. And they provide attractive prices for some ccTLDs: for instance, I do now move and register my .CC there. (Regarding gTLDs, Dynadot or NameSilo offer more attractive rates) If you want to buy through your Hexonet account, you need to deposit the money first (no payment at the time of registration), but it is easily done. Very pleased with them, I should say.

If you are looking for domains in Latin America, try NameAction.com. They have great customer service and are very useful for people (like me) who don't speak Spanish.

Also, www.cctldnames.net and https://secure.coccaregistry.net have quite a few extensions that more mainstream registrars don't offer.

well possible reason is they (and others) check if domain is resolving or not, instead of whois check, to prevent registrars abuse. if domain isn't resolved, it can be shown as available.

like them too, and their support is just great imho
