There is a site called Ask 500 People that might provide you with some free market research. The concept is very simple you ask your question by setting up a poll and then submitting it.

I used it to check pricing options for a web based service. I didn’t get 500 responses but the results were very useful. As it turned out 17 % of the responders were willing to pay more than the lowest price offered. That surprised me. I had used similar polls and every one wanted the lowest possible price.

It is a free service. It reaches the genera population. There is not a capability to break things down by demographics or at least I did not see any way to accomplish this.
