Yep, typical practical german culture. It is just impressive how easily they reach finals playing crap...

I just hope this time a team playing FUN football wins the tournament (like Spain or Russia). Not like in last euro cup when Greece won with their ultra deffensive style and scoring only in corner kicks and free kicks.

Obviously, germans dont care about all this as long as they score more goals than the other team. Again, it is just a matter of culture

i have to object here a little bit, there is no need to make that a "cultural" debate...what DO YOU know about the german culture, have you ever lived in germany?(i lived a couple years in spain and i loved it, would go back anytime)

Anyway, i would love to see the times back when such icons like Beckenbauer, Mueller etc destroyed the opponents defense with cleverness and the from you mentioned FUN Factor....and of course everybody loves to see brilliant soccer played by brasilians or lately african teams....BUT, again...a win is a win, no matter how someone played..

Hey, we cant compare. You just mentioned two of the greatest players ever

With Germany I think their history is something giving them a huge strength and self confidence. I mean they start a tournament knowing they've been in finals many times and they've won several times too so they know for sure they can.

Maybe it is not only a matter of culture, but also of mentality. And probably german and italian winner mentality is what makes a difference.

Okay, today's match is going to be EXTREMELY exciting, both teams have been having dream runs, Spain is sizzling HOT where as Russia thrashed Netherlands. :kickass:

My hopes are on Spain as Villa and Torres are pretty much annihilating their opponents' defense and Russia doesn't have that good a defense.

Credit to the Germans - every tournament they are there or thereabouts whether they are brilliant or just plain old average they always seem to do enough - the Turks got a bit lucky against the Czechs when Cech dropped the ball for just about the first time in his career

It needs some experiences i think, and a good refree..

And we see all goals by starting attacks from left side of Germany.

So, it's not a miracle or a god. It's only soccer. We played good but Germans won. Because, we couldn't goal enough, more than Germans.

We had Italy in front, the current world champions. I couldnt think of a harder match in quarter finals. Let's see how everything goes today

Im so impressed about Turkey. They dont have the best team in nearly anything (technical, speed, strenth) but they have been very brave and they have played with all their soul.

I do agree with you on the mentality but having too much self confidence was leading a couple times to disasters in the past

Hence, nobody was betting a single euro that the young german team comes this far in the tournament and now everyone celebrates, all concerns are forgotten...

The german team always had this more "working" approach rather than play brilliant and it proved to be a good concept..but i agree there was a bit luck in the game(even the referee didn't give us a penalty)

But what i find personally really impressive is this, shot after the game:

even there where some idiots who started riots in berlin

Have lived in spain myself i am rooting today for spain, the spains are all fanatics when it comes to soccer, in every little bar thee was soccer displayed 24/7

The game is so evenly matched that it would be no surprise if it goes to penalty shoot-outs and in that lottery Russia will win, but if it does'nt reach the penalties then I believe we will be screaming "Ole, Ole, Ole" tonight

That's what people said two years ago about Argentina and Germany sent them home. Germany has a great team right now. Whoever makes it to the final is going to have to overcome an extremely eager team (who has an extra day to rest and prepare). My vote is on Germany (and not just because I live here). :lol:

The German Tanks are gonna have a very hard time to beat this Spanish Armada

The way things stand at the moment Spain will be champs with all the respect that Germany deserves. This football is just too good!
