Hello all,

I haven't been on here or domaining for a while just recently...

I remember all of the controversy with the .EU land rush and everyone debating whether it was any good or not or whether anyone would actually find anyone to sell them to in the future.

How are CC.eu and CCC.eu names doing nowadays, have there been any big sales?

Ive got M8.EU... reckon its worth anything?

Cheers

Hello there,

Its surprising how amongst so many posts this one hasn't been answered at all.

Is the .EU market so tedious?

Cheers

Please use search first:) anyway .eu is not doing probably as good as people would have hoped. Lot of domains got registered at first and not much development followed.

I personally think thats the reason it is not that successful as most people just registered the names not having any plans to develope them.
I am sure it will get more important but not very fast. It should be a good domain next to .de and .co.uk if you do business in europe.

I think .eu was a disaster to be honest. How many website do you come across on a daily basis that actually use the .eu extensions..? not many

true not too many. At the same time it depends on a content and who is doing the search.
There are lot of countries where users hardly ever come cross a .com address. I ve seen companies that use .eu in europe and have dropped their country extension.

.EU has been a disaster.
eurid is very much to blame for this.
If it ever takes off, it wont be for 5-10 years after the fiasco.

Well as Moses pointed out, using the search function would have been illuminating. But one of the main threads is this one:
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/352749-eu.html

It has the stats on .eu website usage. There are still .eu sales but if you have any good ones, it might be a while before the damage to the ccTLD by EURid's bungling works its way out of the system. That could take between five and ten years. Many of the domain sales in .eu seem to be split between speculation and domain recoveries by businesses. Eitherway, the .eu as a viable competitor to .com or ccTLDs is pure fantasy. The ccTLDs and the .com still rule in the EU and usage in the ccTLDs is far higher. (I also posted the link to the Top 20 .eu hosters for July 2007 in that thread.)

I also believe if you do business in europe in many different countries it would be good to own specific country domains for example: bizname.ie, bizname.de, bizname.co.uk, bizname.pl ... etc and then also bizname.eu which is the gateway to country specific sites.

it hasnt worked to date.
Been a bit of a disaster.
it may pick up in the future, but with com, mobi, info & tv to invest in why bother?

Hello all,

Cheers for the search idea... however it is a bit more specific that just wanting to know about the .EU... I would also like to know if the type of LetterNumber.eu (LN.EU) combination has any particular worth above other domains.

Thanks for your input so far. I also think that the .EU landrush was a shambles, but I got what I consider a gem from it... M8.EU.

I can also, being an experienced domainer, agree with you that it could take some time and some shuffling around and for the domains to get in to the right hands in order for the domain extension to flourish. I hold hope and shan't let my domain go JUST yet.

Thanks
