Hey guys.

What's the official .eu TLD designation? G or CC?
Yes, I know - "European Union" is not a country.

It may be a location, but that location is not defined by a language or anything like that, the area will also be constantly changing..... I would call it a generic TLD.

well lets look at the gTLDs now
Code:
.com - meant for commercial sites but usually used by all
.net - used for networks but like .com it has many uses
.org - used for websites run and owned by organizations
.pro - for pros in a particular field. Must prove thier pro status.
            .name - for individuals. ex: joe.name - jane.doe.name
            .museum - for museums only.
.info - mostly used for informative sites, no restrictions
.coop - restricted to businesses acting as cooperatives
.biz - meant for business use, unrestricted
.aero - Aviation Community Membership ID Required
.jobs - Newly approved - restricted to hiring companies
.xxx - Newly approved - available as soon as this fall.

None of those indicate location in the least. I think its most def. a ccTLD

By ICANN definition:
Generic TLDs -> 3 letters or more (except .arpa which is "infrastructural" TLD)
Country-code TLDs -> 2 letters

Its a country code but don't mention it to anyone in France or Holland (or the UK for that matter) :)

.eu is classified as a ccTLD. All registrants must be located in Europe.

If you haven't heard of it and want more info, the registry will be run by EurID (note that they're using the .org and not the .com).
