AT&T, MCI, SBC Laboratories, Sprint, Verizon and GoDaddy.com on Friday announced to create a single company to promote the idea of ENUM technology in North America, including the US, Canada and Caribbean nations.

ENUM is standardized by the IETF and enables mapping of public telephone number address space into the Domain Name System (DNS). The firms hope that ENUM will be widely adopted and allow a tight integration of VoIP to use existing and create new Internet features. For example, consumers will be able to use their telephone number to access a range of communication services which could result in a consolidation of multiple phone numbers and email addresses.

The Bush administration put it's support behind that project almost 2 years ago.

I wonder how many misspells of enum.org will end up at enom.org which is pointed at enom.com?

I think this puts enom.com in a very good position.
