I found a domain name at an enom reverse auction. There was one bid for $5 and a "Buy it Now for $XX" button showing, so I clicked the buy it now button, and a confirm box popped up. I clicked on it as well and was instantly taken to a page that said I had been outbid, and the next page showed that the auction had closed, even though the reverse auction close date was not today.
I then read enom's reverse auction FAQs and saw nothing about proxy bidding up to the "buy it now" price. Is it possible that someone has a sniping program that monitors the "buy it now" button and waits for the corresponding confirm pop-up button to trigger an instantaneous "buy it now" command from the sniper before I can click on the confirm button?
I just cannot believe this just happened by coincidence on a Sunday afternoon. I e-mailed enom and cannot wait to hear their response.
