domain enduser wants fuggit.org -- value?

I just received an inquiry regarding fuggit.org. I assume it's legitimate...

They say, "Hello, We are interested in fuggit.org. Your name was listed for sale. Please let us know your price.

Our company provides IT security services and performs security audit of local and global networks. Our clients are mainly based in Europe and Canada. So investing in names is an additional direction of our financial strategy.

Looking forward to do business with you."

Thoughts on what I might ask for it would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly... this sounds like a complete scam email to me. Be advised if they ask you for a paid appraisal - thats a very common scam online. The reason being is the quality of the domain name is absolutely lacking - what kind of investment would it be in this domain name? I think I smell some BS - Proceed with Caution!

Nope - No Risk. Ask for a reasonable price - if they prompt you for an appraisal service - dont be too crushed, I'd bet thats exactly what this is.

Just checked the stats at Sedo on this domain. No traffic at all until 3 days ago, then 15 uniques in 3 days. Does this suggest a genuine interest?

Also I noticed the domain has 9 links to it. Is there a way to see where these come from?

You were exactly right. It was a scam. He requested an appraisal and just happened to have a link to a thread on "Domain Talk" where I could find a good appraiser.

Im glad that you werent taken - its a tough lesson to learn but it didnt cost you more than time and perhaps a bit of disappointment.

Just a FYI. I received the same inquire about one of my domains. I replied thinking it was legit. And bingo they started talking about a name appraisal. I still thought it was legit because it is a reasonable request. (although if it was legit they probably would pay for it themselves) I responded back asking if they would be willing to pay half of the $75 fee from one of the sites listed in the convenient thread they sent. The reply I received did not answer my question just talked about the importance of appraisals. I realized this was some type of scam when I received the exact same email this morning from another "company" with the same email server toughguy.com. What is interesting to me about this scam is that the replies were personalized. The guy was talking about just becoming a father, etc.

What a coincidence! The guy that tried to scam me (he called himself Ferguson) had just become a father too!

The thread he sent me to look at was so silly - it was like an infomercial for the appraisal service he wanted me to use. Totally scripted.

krx, The first email said ITB Consulting then when I replied it resolved to you guessed it Ferguson ([email protected])! The email I got this morning was from William Quigley, GSC Services. I was tempted to reply to see if I got the same responses but didnt want to let any other spammers know my email was current. I am probably in their system now already though. Ive been on the net for 10 years so Ive seen many scams. This one seemed to be a little more personalized than others. There were still clues (business email on a sunday, why was he online if he just became a father, link to a paid site). I saw another similar bot this weekend but it claimed to be a live chat rep. It came up when I left a website and seemed to interact with me at first but I realized that the "rep" would not answer my questions about giving a free sample. Then when I typed the word bot it replied it was a live virtual agent. I then noticed other patterns on keywords. Im sure these more intelligent parsers fool a lot of newbies.
