Email regarding domain name.

Hi all,

Yesterday i put a domain name up at Sedo. Today I got an email from soemone saying they were interested in it. Can people from sedo email you? he wanted to know a price for it, Im all new to this so not to sure. thanks

the email was this;

What is the price of your domain?

We are very interested in it. Good domains are wise investment in the
future. We are in real estate business. Our company is interested in
easy-to-remember domain names.

If you have other domains for sale feel free to send your list.

That is the appraisal scam without a doubt.

I got that exact same email the day after I joined sedo.

That's a scam I got the same email they will offer you a big chunk of money then tell you you need to pay them first for an appraisal even though if they are appraisers they should be able to know the value already
and they buy nothing

I got this email as well; I just told them to make an offer on Sedo and I even gave them the link.

I think Sedo needs to remove it's "Newly Listed" search feature which clearly could help with this scam.

The appraisal scam has been around for a pretty long time and they focus on two things that I am aware of.

New Registrations
Newly Listed domains on Sedo.

Why no criminal charges ever happen, who knows. So many domains have been proven used etc. Maybe that's why I own NothingEverHappens.com :bah:

I got that exact same email the day after I joined sedo.

Me too! Right after I had imported some more domains into Sedo. I did some checking around via Goog, to find these are well-known appraisal scam artists. Exact same wording as well.

I think Sedo needs to remove it's "Newly Listed" search feature which clearly could help with this scam.
My guess is that the scammers use other methods to find newly registered domain names, like comparing zone files.
