Hold it right now is not the time to sell...unless your needing money which you indicated you don't etc. I would hold and wait for better weather in the domain economy cause right now you'll not get top dollar and this domain should fetch a pretty penny even in bad times.

Domain has quite a bit of searches per month and certainly some appeal for the hunting crowd. I dont put this in the 6 Figure range, but I do think it would fair well into the 5 figures.

Question is, how well is it doing Parked for you? Not a ton of advertisers - although I assume that during Hunting Season, that may go up. I might also recommend exploring a few other parking options. Parked.com and Fabulous.com are two of my favorites, and typically have a better CTR and RPC. Nice name regardless.

I can't really explain this one, but this name is like owning a lot of acreage. This one has nothing to do w/ type in traffic, CTR, or anything associated w/ domaining.

This domain has nothing to do with variables that make it valuable to many people and you cant explain why?

No one will disagree that development is a better way to go - but since it is just parked, exploring other easy parking solutions is a smart move.

I don't like dropping names. My old boss owned a 17.5K+ acre ranch in Eastern OR, 5K+ ranch w/ 100,000K+ acre lease in CA, several other 5K+ ranches, as well as a hunting lodge w/ 200K+ acre lease in upper CA...

This name is worth $20,000+ to a reseller, you may get more by hunting down and end user, but $xxx,xxx is very hopeful IMHO.

Since it's parked at sedo why not give it one of their more attractive parking page layouts? That might help traffic stay & click rather than thinking OMG a boring link page let's get outta here

It's a high quality name so assuming you have others, a small portfolio at least, of quality names, you can apply for much better parking programs than that simple sedo one, like the quality-names-only programs at Yahoo, Fabulous and a few others. Much better income for type-in traffic names like this.

Minor development, with some adsense, will also do you quite well.

Market's quite low now so this name wouldn't fetch the selling price it would have a year ago. Probably in the $25K range reseller, double - to - triple that for end user at the moment, but of course could go much higher with very motivated bidders and a better economy

I am not offended, its not even my domain name. You simply stated an opinion I didnt agree with. Frankly, I consider this discussion. I just ask that people provide supporting arguments so that I can follow their line of thinking.

I assume you mean that this domain should be sold to one of those ranch owners. Im not disagreeing that these guys might be the end-users. But Lets assume for the sake of argument that the owner doesnt want to go through the hastle of trying to find an end-user (since clearly he has no need for the cash). I simply provided him with an effective solution to increase his revenue with minimal work.

I would either set up a couple booth's at hunting shows with a banner that reads:

Elk.com We Know Bull!

and works some deals with Elk hunting guides, Elk ranches, Elk Taxidermy, Elk ANYTHING!!

A bull elk btw for those not aware is the Male Elk.. the ones with the big ass horns... the ones hunters like to hunt

If I owned this domain, it would take A LOT of money for me to sell it.

Potentially a VERY strong brand name, The word ELK makes me think - Strength, Power, Proud, Independent.

Names like that can be put to a myriad of uses IMO

Egg.com was used for credit cards

Elephant.com is used for car insurance, see if you can find out what Elephant.com sold for recently, I bet it was a shed load and ELK is alot better especially for the American/Canadian market IMO. Save that baby for an enduser
