Have you been cheated when buying things from EBay?
Because I want to buy something and I am afraid of being cheated ~ :'(

I have only purchased books and parts for hotrods on eBay. I have never been cheated, but I'm careful not to purchase from someone who doesn't have a solid track record. Look at the feedback. Have they made a significant number of sales? Look at the bad feedback. Is there a lot of it, or is it just one or two sour grapes? How long have they been a seller?

A quick look at the feedback will tell you if they are legitimate.

i will go with anyone who has over 10 feedback and over 95% positive feedback but for items over $30 ill only go with 100+ sellers and 95% feedback

I've bought like 10 things from eBay, and have never been cheated, though I thought I was, but delivery took 3 weeks from a city that is 50 minutes away.

I was a victim of a large scammer last year on eBay for a digital camera who conned over 170 victims and a grand total of $189,000. I don't think he ever did receive justice as the FBI did nothing and his local police department we contacted was of little help to all of us. We came up with a list of all the victims and stayed in touch for quite awhile, however there were a bunch of deadbeats in the bunch who didn't want to pursue it or do anything. :yell:

The individual had 100 some positive feedback and no negative, so it appears he worked the first couple of months legitimately to build up positive feedback so he could go out with a bang. It's ashame when these kind of scammers get away with such fraud and don't receive any justice for their actions. >:(

eBay needs to clamp down on fraudulent sellers and listings so the amount of members who becomes a victim of such a scam will decrease. However, they don't care much about victims because the more fraud that occurs puts more $$$ in their account. The more fraud equals more listings which in turn comes out to be more listing, closing, additional addon feature fees, and PayPal fees. They cover very little for fraud which is only $180 per case no matter how large the amount is.

Square Trade claims to cover listings for the amount stated on their logos. However, if you read the fine print on their website then you'll notice they only cover a certain amount of the stated price and there's a whole list of restrictions. They are just as guilty as the scammers in my opinion. :|

I think eBay is a great resource for sellers and buyers as long as you make sure you buy from reputatable sellers. I think it's safe to assume that there's more legit and honest sellers on eBay than there are fraudulent crooks, however there's always those few rotten eggs in every bunch who has to try and spoil it for everyone.

Just make sure that you check out their feedback and don't buy from anyone who is new without any. I'd recommend just buying from reputable powersellers with thousands of feedback and sales as it assures you won't be scammed. A few hundred positive feedback with none or a few negs can't always determine they are honest, which proves true with the scam I was a victim of last year. Just use your best judgement and if you have a funny feeling about a seller, then avoid buying from them. If a deal looks too good too be true then most times it is.

I wish you the best of luck with buying on eBay YUPAPA as I'm sure you'll find it a great place to do business! I wouldn't let the scammers keep you from eBay as there are many honest and ethical sellers who use the service professionally. :)

I only do bussines with eBay Members with at least 500 positive feedbacks and more then 98% feedback rating, I only pay via PayPay (CreditCard) so I can turn back the payment if I want to. I have been cheated too many times now. Please keep in mind you have to take actions within the first 30 day's after the transaction after that it will be a lot harder to get your product or money. I turned back a lot of transactions with PayPal and eBay, I won 95% of the casses but lost 5%, this is a lot of money!

That's a great point which I forgot to mention in my above post Berrie. Thanks for bringing it up as it will help everyone become a buyer with positive experiences instead of a victim of fraud with no course of action to recover stolen payments. :)

It's much easier to receive money back in a fraudulent transaction by using PayPal or a credit card than an offline method through the mail. You can contact the credit card company and report fraud and they'll do a reversal on your card. It's much tougher to receive your money back fighting a scammer when you sent a money order or personal check.

I sent the individual a money order as I thought he was a "trusted seller" with all of his positive feedback which was a huge mistake. I only received the $180 back that eBay covers and the rest of the loss ended up being a lesson learned. I'll never use anything else besides a credit card or online payment service such as PayPal to for goods online.

Thanks for all your suggestions ~
I didn't know there were feedbacks that could help to determine whether they were good sellers or not ~ :]
