Has anyone had much success selling eDomain.com and iDomain.com type names ?

I always see sales, however I have never sold one myself and would not know how to market them to end-users etc....

Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Cheers

.US domains.US domains
Had one, eTeleshopping dot com.
No luck at all with it, sold for 10 just to get rid of it.

Wow, flashback - I think they were hot in the 2006 era

I sold one simply by posting it For Sale here.

If there was a reported multi million plus sale on a domain name and the (i) version was available on a drop, is it worth it? Not to sell to the owner of the multi million sale but in general....

If you can get a good short keyword and find the right enduser they could sell pretty well. I have a friend that bought an "e" domain for his business and he paid a good amount to get it.

Stay away from the multiple keyword domains (eKeyword1Keyword2.com) they really don't have any value.

If the recent multi million sale was NameName.com , would iNameName.com hold any value? It is also a multi million dollar generic business.....

Everything that has an "I" in front is related to apple in people's mind. So it's just a waste of money and time to promote smth not related to apple with such a domain.

..you may want to check "iWord" sales before making assumptions about people's minds :)

"eWord" doing well too..

I think whogister just answered that question the post above yours.

The value all depends on the domain name. iCloud.com is more valuable than iTwentySomething.com (which has no value). If you get my meaning.

I've sold a couple of i domains for mid-$XXX. Generally they are tougher to sell than 1 or 2 worders.

RE: 'e'

i can't really see 'e' going anywhere - it still means 'electronic/electric', is a great and solid brandable, and if it's a prefix for a much bigger keyword rich string, with the proper content, you will still get great rank.... what's not to like?

I do agree that the 'BIGGER' money is in the single word terms, but i don't see eHealthInsurance.com struggling with their name one bit.

Here's a few reported e sales from this past year using multiple words:

โ€ข eLearningSoftware.com - $2,350 (Sep 2012)
โ€ข eCarsDealers - $1,190 (Oct 2012)
โ€ข ePropertyPlus.com - $2,068 (Jul 2012)
โ€ข eCarWorld.com - $3,000 (Jul 2012)
โ€ข eNurseOnline.com - $2,688 (May 2012)
โ€ข eClassBook.com - $2,795 (Mar 2012)
โ€ข eBookPlus.com - $3,000 (Mar 2012)
โ€ข eWebDesign.com - $3,000 (Mar 2012)
โ€ข eDistanceLearning.com $3,000 (Jan 2012)

RE: 'i'

i half disagree that this is relegated to just apple. Depending on how this prefix is used can actually add to the logic of the domain name. iVehicleWrap... or iCashLoans (see below).

I DO think though, that if it is a techy type term that you are pairing this up with, that it can carry some of that apple-ness with it, but by no means should you let that stop you.

While there are a handful of other 'i' names reported in 2012, most of them come in sentence form.. 'iLove..etc..' - but for what you are looking for, here's a small little list that carry no apple appeal whatsoever:

โ€ข iLuxuryHomes.com - $2,500 (Oct 2012)
โ€ข iFreeLancer.com - $1,800 (Oct 2012)
โ€ข iCashLoans.com - $5,000 (May 2012)

One last thing - my opinion only - i don't think 'e' names have any boundaries and can easily be applied to anything whereas i do think that 'i' names need to be used much more strategically.... i don't think iHealthInsurance.com for example is as flexible as eHealthInsurance.com.

aww, disappointed with my response are we bahaha

most e and i were regged a long time ago
hence the "old" threads.

you asked for comments, I commented sorry it's not what you "want" me to say lol

... so look to the FUTR :)

I was able to hand reg eHaptic and eHaptics
both dot com

these are actually really nice names...
for those that don't know - Haptic means 'touch'

... so 'Electronic Touch' is what you get with eHaptic(s) and that's exactly what haptics is.

Still available and having to explain it
speaks volumes for this term as it's not a
"new" thing.

LOL and I guess sense "of touch" is way off as I've never heard of it.
Doesn't mean it doesn't have value to the collector.

i didn't JUST register this - i registered these names almost two years ago.

haha.. not exactly a new thing, but yet you've never heard of it?
hmmm

You'll 'get' haptics soon enuff... when you're shopping on your tablet or phone and u will be able to feel the actual leather of the jacket you are looking to buy on your touch screen.

Haptics is MUCH more than the vibrations you feel on your phone.

this is also far from a 'collector' name.

you may have been better off simply asking what haptics is all about if you didn't know about it.

Good luck with your domain :tu:

I googled it before I replied, but even then I had never heard of it.
might be cause I have no touch devices ?
and no one around me that has them uses that term.

I still say the value will be with the holder, and who wants what.
an i or e in front will have to be a killer word for it to matter.
Like eBank or eWallet or eStore ;)

I've sold an i name, in a .org so I know they will sell,[only ever had 1]

Has to be something that makes sense :)

I still say the value will be with the holder,

you 'still' say this only because you are not aware of the power of Haptics and the place it has in the near future.

Has to be something that makes sense :)

you will be hard pressed to find a name that makes more sense than 'Electronic Touch' when that is exactly what haptics is.

Give it time Miss Chiff.. i promise you, the world will be very familiar with Haptics.
:)

I wonder if we can have forum haptics - I'll test drive it on Mis_C.

Haptics is too much of a word for the average person.

the awareness of the average person and haptics is something i believe will become very common place with most... did you see how many people were disappointed that true haptics were not in the latest iphone update (5)?... i think more people are aware than you think... but 'awareness' is a discussion for an entirely different day

my goal with a name like eHaptic/s is one for the company that actually programs and creates haptic technology... this is a top shelf name for that company... "e+Technology"??

RE: Haptic Forum...
... have you seen the early dev of haptic chat?
.. haptic gaming? :)

btw...
.. do i get ANY credit for eHolograph/com? or is that too advanced for the average person also?

anything?... a little nugget?.. maybe??

hahaha.. it's all good

Depends on your target market whether or not they understand. and that is what matters, your target!

I mean you wouldn't sell hot water to an eskimo asking for ice - they don't know the hot water industry
they know ice

probably bad example but i hope u get what i mean by target.

covering my ass
[just an example, no racial accusations intended to eskimos or hot water]

...so...

..selling eHaptic/s to a 'Haptic' company is ?... a bad idea?

haha
